Personally I would call the spine of a paper back book a "hard" surface. Try to flex bend and compress that area by hand and tell me how well that goes...
Also, You have already stated you KNOW the policy on discontinued knives. If they have parts they will fix it. If they don't have parts they CANT fix it. What should they do One off you a new knife? maybe spruce it up ya know Titanium handles frame lock ZDP-189 blade. Yeah thats about right..... :jerkit:
You finally got this part right. Strider has nothing to do with spyderco. It's an irrelevancy. I'm not going to get into a spyderco vs. strider debate. There's already enough stupidity around here.
So, once again, we're talking about spydercos, not striders, busses, bucks, kershaws, etc. Joe
:jerkit: you don't pay very close attention do you?
This is not a who is better thread, it IS a thread on how long you should expect a manufacturer to stock knife specific parts on a custom collaboration over 7 years old.
And the buyers responsibility to inspect then accept or reject any knife he purchases, be it new or (especially) 2nd hand. Due diligence is the buyers responibility in the used market, plain and simple.
Maybe I'm just old fashioned but I take responsibility if I buy lemon and let the seller get away with it. I either sell it with the defects noted or fix it on my own dime. I do not blame the factory for wear and tear put there post manufacture and if it is old or limited run I do not expect them to foot the bill for my mistake. As I have said, I have sent many spyders home for repair (they are my working knives, and I have found none better.) and a few were beyond help so they were gracefully retired from service. But never once was their CS department anything but professional, courteous, and helpful.
And neither they nor Sal deserve the lambasting some of you are doling out, especially tummler, you say you are older but admit to falling back on a juvenile tirade, swearing at people over what amounts to your mistake. Fine, don't buy another spyder. I'm sure your slack will be taken up.

i sent in an old green endura for a sprucing up...it was beat to sh!t (who knows how many owned it before me) . i was informed by spyderco that the lock failed and was sent a brand new E4. they DO stand behind their product. there obviously was a miscommunication about the credit they offered and that you said you never received...call them up, get it straightened out (i am sure you are going to have to send the knife in to get the credit) and end this discussion. you will get a credit for IN CURRENT PRODUCTION knives. pick one that you like and call it a day.
seriously...this guy, tummler, has strewn about a mass of contradictions. At this point, no reasonable person would believe a goddamn word he says. Who's to say he wasn't offered a credit and he is just being a wanker?
I think I shall make good on his promise and call this my last post on this subject.
Sal, thanks for the great knives you make. I have enjoyed them for 15 years and plan to for many more to come.
Enjoy.
Brett
Spine Wacking is for corkies!![]()
other than this one knife and one problem, spoyderco makes a great knife... but nonsense like this is what makes me lose all respect for the company and their knives
What do you want them to do for you?![]()
Simple question. Now, I would like a simple answer.![]()
squash it... I don't want any more spydercos... I'm done here, Sal, EXPECT an email from me. LOL.... fanboys... pffft
