Who ever might get that Lum will be lucky.
Ecentric pivot = easy fix

I was waiting for someone to mention the eccentric pivot.:D:thumbup: Good luck to whomever decides to try and help this mental giant (the OP) make an adjustment with the eccentric pivot. If he (the OP) goofs up, and he will, he'll probably make more unreasonable demands of Spyderco. He might even try to get Spark & Bladeforums to replace the knife for him.

I bought an old, used Strider, had an issue with it, sent it in, they fixed it, no questions asked, no charge....

What did you pay for said Strider?

Did Spyderco ask the op to send in the knife to see if it actually NEEDED new parts? Maybe an adjustment or two would have been enough. Sounds like they just gave him the brush off....They could have said send it in, then told him it was unrepairable after actually checking it out....

Spyderco has an excellent reputation and when they don't go the extra mile, people who expect it are unhappy...

Do you take everything everybody on the internet says seriously?

Um, let's see....the op is discussing how he bought a used knife ( I bought an old strider), had a problem (I had issues with said used strider) and couldn't get any customer service from Spyderco (strider on the other hand, fixed the issue free of charge, no questions asked). Gee, I don't know, maybe that other knife companies will repair older product bought second hand without any hassle....Other than that, nothing I suppose....

I must admit, I've never seen Sal (Spyderco) tell a member of these forums to "lick his s**k!" Now THAT is customer service!

Is using an example of a similar situation to show how another knife company handled a second owner knife with issues to make the point that not all knife companies would have handled the situation the same way that obtuse and hard to follow, or are there just a lot of dense people here?

I guess trolls just have a way of bringing out our density!

lol... any other time and Sal would be bending over backwards to help shine up the image of his customer service... surely someone here (tazkristi?) should have some kind of people skills??

tummler I will give you all the money in my paypal account for that knife (~ $8 US) first and final offer. You can't really blame a company for telling you the truth, if they don't have parts for a X year old knife then what the hell do you expect them to do? Retool their assembly line to make a few parts for an old knife?

For $5 shipping you could have $3 profit on a knife you want to get rid of.

noone from the company here??

You've got to be kidding. You already got a response from Sal. You responded to that with more of your whining. No "people skills" on your side. You're obviously satisfied with being dissatisfied. So there's nothing they can do for you ... your fifteen minutes are long since up.

Didn't you say you were leaving?

LOL... of course I don't expect that, I never did... I didn't even plan on doing anything with it until I read somewhere that Sal would be interested in checking it out... (supposedly he doesn't want knives that have locks that fail out in use) I just need to know where to send it.

sal's response earlier was "the response" you're talking about?? I just need to find out about this "credit" that was supposed to be offered to me...
my bad. I guess I'm not wanted here. I thought this was a discussion forum...
evidently I can't discuss this here...

Way to go Tummler! I am confident that you will make the list and win most if not all of the special awards!

I hope they didn't/don't offer you credit.

Considering you can't keep your word about leaving,

can't read and comprehend the warranty

Can't accept reality

Can't produce any evidence supporting your story

Odds are that your whole story is BS.

I was hoping someone (sal) from the company could tell me what I need to do to get this taken care of... "best customer service" and all

You'e sitting there waiting for a call in the middle of a late Sunday night going on Monday?

Take two aspirin and call me in the morning.

tummler, you get the problem taken care of by sending it back to the person you bought it from and getting a refund. That is unless you are the one that screwed up the knife. Then the person that sold it to you doesn't owe you any more than Spyderco does.

Perhaps by repeatedly "spine-whacking" it? :jerkit::rolleyes: Bold text mine.
