Ecentric pivot = easy fix
I bought an old, used Strider, had an issue with it, sent it in, they fixed it, no questions asked, no charge....
Did Spyderco ask the op to send in the knife to see if it actually NEEDED new parts? Maybe an adjustment or two would have been enough. Sounds like they just gave him the brush off....They could have said send it in, then told him it was unrepairable after actually checking it out....
Spyderco has an excellent reputation and when they don't go the extra mile, people who expect it are unhappy...
Um, let's see....the op is discussing how he bought a used knife ( I bought an old strider), had a problem (I had issues with said used strider) and couldn't get any customer service from Spyderco (strider on the other hand, fixed the issue free of charge, no questions asked). Gee, I don't know, maybe that other knife companies will repair older product bought second hand without any hassle....Other than that, nothing I suppose....
Is using an example of a similar situation to show how another knife company handled a second owner knife with issues to make the point that not all knife companies would have handled the situation the same way that obtuse and hard to follow, or are there just a lot of dense people here?
lol... any other time and Sal would be bending over backwards to help shine up the image of his customer service... surely someone here (tazkristi?) should have some kind of people skills??
noone from the company here??
tummler I will give you all the money in my paypal account for that knife (~ $8 US) first and final offer. You can't really blame a company for telling you the truth, if they don't have parts for a X year old knife then what the hell do you expect them to do? Retool their assembly line to make a few parts for an old knife?
For $5 shipping you could have $3 profit on a knife you want to get rid of.
screw it, I'm not arguing with all you fanboys... my replys here are done...y'all just wanna drag this out into more than it is...
squash it... I don't want any more spydercos... I'm done here, Sal, EXPECT an email from me. LOL.... fanboys... pffft
I'm gone........
I'm gone........
You've got to be kidding. You already got a response from Sal. You responded to that with more of your whining. No "people skills" on your side. You're obviously satisfied with being dissatisfied. So there's nothing they can do for you ... your fifteen minutes are long since up.
Didn't you say you were leaving?
If you were gone, then why are you back?
I was hoping someone (sal) from the company could tell me what I need to do to get this taken care of... "best customer service" and all
tummler, you get the problem taken care of by sending it back to the person you bought it from and getting a refund. That is unless you are the one that screwed up the knife. Then the person that sold it to you doesn't owe you any more than Spyderco does.
LOL.... troll... pffft
