I don't know, i think tummler has a point. I guess it comes down to what you assume the usable life of the knife is, and how long it preforms well compared to that. If spyderco puts a waranty on a knife for a specific length of time, then i suppose they are stating that the knife should last that long with reasonable use. A waranty that covers forever, assumes that the knife is going to outlast the user. thus, if the knife has worn out before then, i would consider it defective. That would make it spyderco's responsability to repair or replace the product, even if it is out of production. (and as an aside, my sebring lxi is still under waranty, even though that particular car is out of production, making comments about out of production cars not carrying a waranty incorrect).
Tummler may be immature, inconsiderate, etc, and i think its pretty obvious that he is, but spyderco still should look at the blade, and decide if it is abuse or premature wearing of materials. Sal already told Tummler to shut his mouth and send the knife in, and i have no doubt Sal would fix it or offer credit, because he is a stand up kind of guy. tummler would just rather argue about it and make more waves at this point.
