Lurkers: I SEE you lurking! Say Hello Here!

Hi everyone! As a regular lurker I just wanted to check in as well. I'm 37 and live in Northeastern, Pa. I was in the PA Guard for 10 years. I like to collect knives and spend as much time as I can outdoors. I I have really enjoyed this forum a lot and appreciate the invitation to say hi. Looks like there are a lot of good people on this forum and I have learned a lot from all of you. Thanks!

Well I guess I should say hello too. I'm Bradd. I am from the Detroit area and I started lurking here while trying to get started in backpacking. I'm 23 and still planning my first trip, and I'd like to thank everyone for sharing their knowledge here. I'd also like to thank Brian for being so active and welcoming. This has to be one of the warmest forums on the internet.
Thanks again,
Bradd.

Brian, you weren't supposed to tell them we can see them! They think their monitors are one-way viewers!:D

Welcome guys!

Codger

Greetings all. I tend to lurk here because you all have such a wealth of knowledege to share. I only post if I think what I have to say might add to the conversation.
Keep it up.
Chris

Hi, I'm an admitted lurker too...great forum! You guys have lead me to some great OUTDOORS knowledge. I'm a US Navy surface warfare officer stationed at Wright Patterson AFB, recently moved from a frigate (FFG) stationed at san Diego.

My knife collection is modest compared to some here...but I got one of the last beckers before camilus went under beause of the good advice here, the BK 7 is my favorite knife! I especially appreciate all the general prepareness threads and those of you who turned me on to nessmuk's "woodcraft and camping." I am much more prepared both at home and during outdoor excursions because of the advice here!

My last outdoors experience was hunting (pheasant) with my dad this past feb. Don't have too much time to write with a 2 year old ay home...so I'll continue to lurk for the great info here. Hope you don't mind!

Thanks Brian and all the others here!

Welcome aboard Chris and Darth. And Darth, thank you for your service to our country. Many of us civvies truly do appreciate it, and what you guys put on the line for us.

thanks! but most of my "operational" time is behind me now...more like my ass in a desk! I'll probably make it over to the sandbox for a training team sometime this year but my force protection will be provided by the real heroes out there every day with thier ass on the line...so thanks to those guys. I'm just an instructor soaking up your tax dollars.

Greetings All, my name is mike I'm 42 and this is my fav forum, lots of good people here and we all speak the same language...wilderness&survival...I think its awesome to have a place were people of like mind can gather and learn from one another.so with that in mind I would like to say THANK YOU ALL!mike

I have posted a few times over here, but mostly lurk. I am 21 years old and work as a welder / fabricator. I spend a lot of time in the woods, and I enjoy hunting, and fishing. Most of what I do outdoors is old school, I like fishing with hand lines, cooking in dutch ovens, single action pistols, and making as much of my gear as possible. Joe

another peeping tom of the wilderness forum turning himself in. you guys are the worst. ive bought a rat-5 and a damn brkt now cause of yall. anyway, im slightly more interested in off-the-grid living rather than survival. same love of the outside though. im 22 and work in a warehouse (where my TUSK gets a daily work out). planning on building a cabin on my land this summer/fall with no elec/ plumbing. should be interesting. anyway hi guys and thanks for all the information youve put out there. - CB

Well Im not sure if Im a lurker per say, but am rather new here. I post more over at KF's outdoor forum(scytale). I am 32 and work in the restaurant industry. I live in south florida now but lived in New England for 28 years(born in Ma,raised in Ct,schooled in RI). I have been been an outdoorsman my whole life(one of my earliest memories is hiking Mt Washington) having been a scout with my brothers, kayaking/canooeing alot and Ive done large parts of the AT. Currently adapting to this new wilderness environment, kinda miss my woolies and goretex but I almost never need a sleeping bag down here so thats a plus.
I came over here because of the Busse forum. I didnt know there was an Outdoor forum at BF but somebody posted a link recently and i just stumbled over here.Glad i did. Some very knowledgeable guys as well as some familiar ones(Estela,Joezilla seem to be here some). Ill try to contribute what I can. Thanx.

Hello from Maine.

I spend some time lurking here, though I rarely post. Honestly, it seems most questions have been answered before I found the thread, and I don't believe I have ever posted "+1" or "Tag" in my life....no reason to start now.
If I feel I can contribute something I will post, otherwise I am content to sit back and learn from others.........and their mistakes. :D

Is it just me, or are a fair amount of the lurkers from the Northeast?

I guess we all aren't the talkative types. :D

This forum has already dragged me out of my lurkdom, it's my new favorite..
I'm into making knives and just about anything that strikes my fancy. I just graduated with my BS in Civil Engineering but I am 32. I live in Texas but spend a lot of time with my family and friends in Colorado and have hiked and camped and canoed and generally bummed around all over the US with my beatiful wife.
I own a Tipi, it is SWEET.
