Lurkers: I SEE you lurking! Say Hello Here!

thanx brian!! i really enjoy reading the threads here and seein all the knives and innovative ways to do various things!!! fed

Cool to see so many new (or new to this particular forum) people here! Jump right in guys, you will feel like old friends in no time ;)

I am 38 with 4 kids and I live in Portland OR. I would post more, but most of the time while I am typing someone else posts exactly what I was going to. p.s. I got my first knife at 5 yrs old, and no matter how many I buy there is always one more I need.

Hello from Maine.

I spend some time lurking here, though I rarely post. Honestly, it seems most questions have been answered before I found the thread, and I don't believe I have ever posted "+1" or "Tag" in my life....no reason to start now.
If I feel I can contribute something I will post, otherwise I am content to sit back and learn from others.........and their mistakes. :D

Is it just me, or are a fair amount of the lurkers from the Northeast?

I guess we all aren't the talkative types. :D

Good to see somebody from the coolest state in the country(imo). Spent a lot of time up in Baxter. Where you located?

Okay, I'l start, I think I probably count:)

I'm a 21(soon to be 22) year old student living in Berkeley CA, I'd offer any of you fine people a beer if you're ever in town. I grew up in England and moved to California a good 4 years ago now.
Growing up I was a boyscout and loved it, I would go camping every year in France with my family. Now that I'm in America I like to get out and see the scenary as much as possible - and learn primative skills, which is a relativly new hobby of mine.
Even though I can barely afford it, I've been bitten by the knife bug:p
More recently I've been buying some of Daniel Kosters work, which is top notch, I have a nessmuk and bushcraft of his, and my girlfriend has his bushcraft too.
Also, I'm doing a BS in Environmental Studies - Natural Resources Management at Sanfrancisco State.

WELCOME FOLKS...:D man.. i missed this whole thread.. kids and there darn soccer practice...:o

cooper-- if you're ever around santa cruz.. drop me a line mate...:D i have lots of knives, longbows and plenty of woods, close by, to play in...

I've posted here a couple of times but not too often. I'm more the observing type than the posting type. I enjoy this forum a lot, it seems I'm always learning new things.

I'm in my 40s and live in Wyoming. I grew up in the country and have been playing in the woods since I was old enough to walk. I spent a few years seeing lots of the world courtesy of Uncle Sam's Misguided Children. I love camping, hiking, knives, guns, motorcycles, bicycles and pretty much anything outdoors.

This might be my favorite spot on earth....BTW this lake is at 9000 ft.

Hello, My name is Brandon. I'm 24 years old living in Portland Oregon w/ my wife and soon to be one year old boy.

I got into outdoors through my parents mostly but was also in Cub Scouts then Boy Scouts.

I have done some long distance hiking in the past but since I graduated HS and started working / going to College that has finished.

I currently work for a small company that makes Backpacking equipment so have been brought back into the life of the outdoors.

I have always loved knives but with the new baby / bills I unfortunatly cant really buy much and I just live vicariously through other peoples posts. Thank you all for the great threads and posts I have learned a whole lot.

IH8U,

Welcome, and thank you! As long as you don't hate me! :D

CDRules/Brandon, welcome!

Well I joined many years ago around the time it started up and a lot of people came across from rec.knives

This is one of my regular ones I check. I usually don't post much becase by the time I see the threads there is already a huge amount of info on them.

Couldn't resist this one tho' :D

Henri, very cool! Thanks for posting. Hell, you've been around longer than most of us, including me!!!! I hope you and all the other lurkers jump in more!

Anyone reading, adding a "+1" is not a bad thing. It reinforces sound ideas, so it helps.

Edited to add: this forum is NOT just about information. It's about interaction and comraderie between people. It's a community, and never forget that behind each post is a real person with real thoughts, experiences, and feelings. Posting is about being a part of the friends here.

Jon is my name, and I'm definetly a lurker.

I'm from Oslo (Norway), married with two kids and expecting nr.3 in may/june.

Hope to see all you lurkers decloaking and posting more!

Hi, my name's Doug and I also lurk here !
I live in the north east of Scotland with my lovely wife and two great teenage kids. We all love the great outdoors. My kids are both in Explorer Scouts and my son is a young leader, we are into camping, fishing, hillwalking and hiking, We have some great scenery around here, but nothing to compare to the real wilderness places you have in the US.:)

hello, been bumming around here for a while so i think it about time to contribute. I should have some pics up in a bit.

Cheers

Damn, I'm bored to death at work, so I probably should do something usefull, like post to this thread :)

I've been lurking for two years now, with only ~30 posts. I'll try to post more in the future, I promise!

About me, I'm 30 years old Finn, working in an open-place-office as a technical documetator (boring job, I know). I live near Turku, on the western coast of Finland. I've been into knives as long as I can remember, I particulary like traditonal Finnish puukkos, but I have a growing collection of other types of knives also.

On my freetime I like shooting with a traditonal recurve bow, hiking 'round the woods and listening to excessive amounts of metal music.

I have been lurking for a while too, I post occasionally if I feel I can contribute, even if it is just to say thanks to Pitdog for his beautiful pictures! I have learned a lot by following threads in this forum. And more than once I have ground my teeth at tknife for showing his great looking knives! I just HAD to go buy some of them!!!

I'm in my early 40s, divorced with 2 teenage sons. We like to hang out, watch movies, and practice martial arts.

I can't remember when I wasn't interested in camping and knives. A dream is to get some time off and go to NY and have Kev and Marty teach me...hopefully soon!

Thanks to everyone for making this a fun place to relax, learn, and hang out!

Hello All.
I'm 31 and a bartender/owner in Louisiana. On 1 April, I'll have been married a year. We have no children, unless you count the cats.
My parents raised me the same way I raise my cats: indoors. I've never been camping, and I think it's high time that I learn. This forum has been an invaluable font of information, and I look forward to putting to good use all of this new-found knowledge.
This will be the year I learn to camp, fish, hunt, and work with wood, leather, and steel.
As to my status as a lurker - I'm the same way off the internet.
Thank you for making a stranger feel welcome. I'll try not to be so quiet in the future.
