J.D. -- in a little bit I'll post some links to a past thread or two that talk about my background. It'll save me typing!

Well, I probably count as a lurker so let's see. Name's Gautier, I'm prior service, and married for 5 years(although she says if I buy one more knife that could change) :p I enjoy the outdoors, and up until I was swept away to the desert by said woman, I spent almost all of my time in the woods and mountains hiking, gathering shrooms(shantrell's mostly), fishing, hunting, practicing primitive skills, etc.
Glad to have found a forum full of folks that enjoy the great outdoors as much as I do, even if I can't seem to make it to a patch of timber these days without a 6 hour drive.

Hey everybody,
My name is Daniel and I am a 20 year old student in Chapel Hill, NC. I like the outdoors and survival and have found myself spending more and more time here. You guys have a lot of experience and knowledge that I would like to take advantage of.

I guess ill pop my head out from hiding behind the rock. I'm 19 and an eagle scout. I'm just starting to walk again after i had a huge spill where I completely dislocated right knee and destroyed 3 ligaments, tore the artery underneath the knee and have severe nerve damage in my lower leg. This happened on the Sleeping Bear Dunes on my high adventure in July. I'm also a den leader in my old cub scout pack so thats fun. I don't have many knives but its growing slowly (mainly due to a lack of job right now). These forums are amazing and im learning a lot here. Thanks to you all.

My name is Trace, I have been lurking here for about 10 years now;-) Im new to survival and survival gear.. Im saving up for a Kabar, and a new compass.

LOL! Trace read my note and left....:D Come back, buddy! I was kidding! :D:D:D

Ok, been into Wilderness stuff since childhood. Always outdoors. Trained personally with friends who are instructors over many of these years. Also martial artist since 1981. Trained LEO and MIL in wilderness and tactical, security consultant and contractor - both overseas and in South and Central America - as well as U.S., conducted testing and eval for many companies in this business, also developed some things myself with partners, one-time knife rep for a short span but hated sales, and cast and crew member for Ron Hood's Volume 11: Sol, The Quest for Survival. Suggested the BF wilderness forum here back in '99 and was made a co-mod, later to be solo mod.

You can see some pix of me at work in the Sticky "Post your Pics..." thread. Whew! Let me know if I can answer any questions. That's the quick-hit version.

Hello Im George from the outskirts of Chicago.

I love the outdoors , training and try to always have a preparedness mind set in every area of my life! (i stress try, sometimes it seems to be very overwhelming)
Practicing wilderness skills with my family, camping , hiking and teaching my kids about the world , brings me closer to where I want to be!
Forging is also a very big part of my life, since the summer of 2000.
What got the fires started was first watching vol. 9 Primitive Knifemaking of the Woodsmaster series. Have been going ever since.

Hola Folks,
I've posted a few times, a very few times. I'm a System Admin and Computer Technologies consultant for home and small businesses. I'm getting up there in years... pushing 24 :p. I live just a little ways outside Ann Arbor in SE Michigan. Grew up in cub scouts then was in boy scouts for a few years.
This forum and frequent trips to the U.P. keep me sane whilst starting down 1280 * 1024 pixels of seizure inducing techno crap for 10-12 hours a day.

And I love my Mini-Griptilian with D2 tool steel...

Howdy, I live in S.W. Florida, the end of the rainbow. I am a geezer in his 50's who is an avid outdoors person and a professional artist. I am one of those liberal, Democrat, gun toting, survivalist types you hear about all the time. I enjoy lurking about the swamps and 10,000 Islands as well as lurking about this forum.

I don't post a lot because I am busy learning so much from you fella's. Sometimes I find a jewel of a reply that just cracks me up because most of them are very down to earth and very witty. My rough kinda' humor. I was recently given an infraction by Cougar Allen, because I used a cuss word in a post/reply. I respect that and understand the reasons so I will make sure my language is clean from here on out, although I see many cuss words here and there, so I thought it wasn't a big deal. Oh well, we're all adults here but again, I can understand about wanting to keep the forum clean for those potential kids who might be lurking.

Welcome, folks. Mystical Woodsman, I can be salty, too. I try not to give infractions for language if it's just in context or funny, but it helps if you remember to put an * in place of a couple letters. If I see something like that, I'll just jump in and edit the word slightly. If someone is using language to abuse another member, then you will see me fire at that abuser both barrels. I'm as easy as they come. My only hot button is when people disrespect each other.

Welcome aboard again, all!

Howdy,

First, the important stuff...I've carried a knife everyday since I was four. :)

Grew up in MN fishing, trapping, and hunting. Spent the last 15 years in CO. I still hunt. I've guided (canoeing, sea kayaking, and dog-sledding) and spent about a year traveling solo in the wilderness of western/central US and Canada. Pretty good at first aid, (EMT-basic).

Hobbies: Dual sport motorcycles, 4x4, sharp/pointy things, things that go bang, krav maga, working with wood, eating stuff with gravy on it, helping others, reading, etc.

Interests on the Immediate Horizon: Knife making, gold panning.

Bug-in, bug-out...it's all good.

Goal for 2008: Don't buy anything I can make, within reason.

Take care,
Mart-O

p.s. Thanks for moderating Brian.
