Looking at similar steels, I'd guess that MadMax would be

7.5 on edge retention (like K390)

5.5 on toughness (like Aus8, K390, S35VN and Vanax)

9 on corrosion resistance (like M390 and S110V)

I put ratings for MagnaMax in Knife Engineering 2nd edition. I will have to look. I might have a little more data than when I made that rating.

The two Magna Steels are fantastic. The attributes of Magnamax are simply amazing! I like S90V, Magnamax looks to be a more balanced step up. Congratulations on your work, you have lots of reasons to smile!

Crucible Industries LLC didn't make knives but it would probably be more expensive for them to make one in Erasteel MagnaCut since they would have to buy the steel rather than make it
