Manix II CTS- XHP

Thanks for the input guys - this sounds like a good one. Been looking at getting an FFG Manix in some sort of sprint run, but right now I'm toy-money broke since I just ordered a Para 2 (I'm excited about that).

Been considering putting my SNG on the chopping block, but I had to sacrifice some serious toys to get it (but man, I can get a lot of Spydies for the cost of that one Strider).
Hi EZ Bake, looking forward to hearing what you think of you're new Para2.I plan on getting one too.

Dude - get one as soon as you can. I regularly carried a Kershaw Rake, a Benchmade Bone-Collector, and my Spyderco Sage 1 and Perrin PPT. I've not even gotten any of my other knives out to play with since I got this Para 2.

I love every single thing about it - the first day I got it, I played with it so much that my fingers were sore from flicking and compressing. I got the Satin/Digi-Camo model - the scales are awesome - the Digital camo pattern is on top of some natural G10, but below a layer of textured natural G10 - so its sort of translucent with Digital camo inside.

I honestly didn't used to think I'd like a knife this size, but this thing is absolutely perfect (although, I got to fondle a standard Manix 2 today - I think I'm going to like it when it comes in as well).

I'm now looking at a Superleaf since I have found that I dig the larger Spydies.

How you two Raleighians doing ? I saw on weather channel you had some nasty weather come threw there . I'm suprised you have electric.

I know what your thinking. I thought you weren't posting on this thread anymore . Its a cold, boring ,slow day at work I couldn't help myself.

Thomas did not explain me anything - one thing he sad once - that he heart something that it was not available sometimes. I am not artistic person having my our show, so this did not became for me "explanation" as well it was only one brief remark, I am not capable of imagine this to "more then once".

Thanks, Vassili.
I did hear something in the recent past about the lack of availability with XHP, it was from Carpenter. They confirmed it, and weren't sure when it would be available in quantity. Additionally I had dinner with Scott Devanna over the last 2 weeks and he confirmed it as well. Scott (Specialty Metals) is about as in the know as there is when it comes the steel.

We'll see what the future brings with XHP, but as of today...see above.

Also I agree with Joe on the $2 lb S30V. Umm...never seen it close to that price, unfortunately. :)

Sal has also posted a couple of times about the unavailability of CTS-XHP from the manufacturer. You can't make blades from steel you can't buy. It's a conspiracy, I'm sure... ;)

I guess it makes the op getting a manix in xhp that much happier. You just got yourself a manix 2 in unobtainium. I know I love mine

Haha - yeah, but I'm afraid that its going to make me want to buy more manix 2s when I get my hands on this one.

Luckily I've managed to keep myself at one . I dunno though after hearing how much better spyderco m4 is then the m4 I got I really want to give it a try . The problem I have though ,is I bought my cousin a bradley for christmas last year and I don't really like the ergos . The tan manix I have thought about but am having trouble of buying two of the same knives even if the steel is different.I did like the looks of that new bradley from shot with the bigger index finger guard. Does anyone know if they decided to sprint run that or produce it ???

It'll be back. Carpenter wants to make it, customers want to buy it...

PM technology is a funny thing. It is widely regarded as beneficial innovation in knifemaking circles. It is almost universally distrusted, or worse, in the firearms world. (That observation is totally off-topic, obviously.)

It will. I got 3 of the CTS-XHP ones. :) And all the other variants as well. It's a disease, I tell ya...

I just ordered a Superleaf and my Manix II hasn't arrived at my house yet. I won the Manix II on eBay before my Para II came in, and my Para II was ordered before my PPT got to my house.

Yeah, we need a 12 step program :)

Really like the way the superleaf looks and the cf but I just don't like vg10. It dulls before the end of one work day

This has drifted well in to peanut butter sandwich territory I think.

Chocolate is superior to Peanut Butter. Just sayin... :D

Oh and I'm now considering buying an orange Manix 2. Someone come take my credit card away from me.

Peanut butter offers more protien ,just saying. Anyways, did you even get your xhp manix yet?

I'll take the credit card and promise I will not buy you another knife.

Haha - I wish man. Its coming from Canada, so it'll be a while longer (and the guy I picked it up from on eBay didn't ship it for 4 days - I was not happy). I'd bet my SuperLeaf beats it here (and possibly my Benchmade Mini Onslaught or Orange Griptilian if I order those in the next few days). In all honestly, I think after that - I might be done buying knives for a bit (one can only hope).

Heheh - I see what you did there.

Just came in (at the exact same time as my SuperLeaf and a whole mess of SAKs for my kids/wife).

I've got to say that I'm impressed with it. My only complaint is that the ball-bearing lock is extremely difficult to pull back (way more than the Axis lock on my mini-bone-collector - I definitely can't work the Ball-bearing with only the thumb or finger yet). I will lube it and see if its just a bit gritty or binding - but its not bad enough that I don't want the knife. This thing is really lightweight for it being as beefy as it is.

I'm loving the jimping both on the finger-choil on the blade and even behind that on the finger-choil on the handle. This thing is made for not slipping out of your hands.

Interesting note - while the Superleaf's blade is obviously thicker than that of both the Para 2 and Manix, the Para 2 looks like it might just be a touch thicker than the Manix (I'll post pics later).
