I purchased a ZT566cf with extra green scale from him here:

I have been out of town this week, I came home today and got a chance to look it over. There is about 1/16" blade play against the detent ball which wasn't ever mentioned. Additionally the bevel is much wider than pictured in the sale ad. I removed the lanyard, less than $1 worth of paracord, because I was thinking about taking it apart to see what the problem was. I thought about it for a minute and didn't disassemble it because I decided I couldn't live with either problem I listed above. I contacted him to inform him of the problem. He refused a refund and advised me to file a dispute with PayPal, which I did.

Was there any description in the original sales post about the knife? If not, did you inquire about the condition?
 
No more description than you see in the ad now. I asked about centering and lock up. He responded both were good and they are. I didn't not specifically ask if there was play against the detent ball. I don't think I should have had to.

Another thing that irks me is the pocket clip has been sanded clean, no paint or ZT logo. Again, I didn't specifically ask about it but that's something an honest seller would mention. Shame on me for not asking for more pictures, lesson learned.
 
As well you shouldn't have to. That should have been disclosed. I hope Paypal comes through for you on this one.

Are those the only pictures as well?
 
Yes, those were/are the only ones. I'm too trusting, I should have been more cynical, I took his word for it. My mistake for sure on that.

I filed a dispute and went ahead and escalated it to a claim. He has responded and PayPal is in charge now.

He admitted via PM that he sharpened it the day he took the pictures but insists it was before the pictures were taken. Sure doesn't look that way to me. The bevel in that one picture is definitely not the one I received .

Like I told him if he would have contacted me when he first received the knife and said he would like to return it because of his stated issues then I would have agreed to it. Due to the fact that he altered it and it cannot be returned in the same condition in which it was received I declined his request. I personally do not dabble in paracord so I would have to send it to someone to make a new one and I never said I sharpened the knife. The PM sent to him stated that the picture posted was taken just before the sales thread was started. Moral of the story if you don't like a knife contact the seller and do not make any changes to it. Feel free to write bad comments on my IG and on here like you threatened to in your personal messages it doesn't bother me one bit. Contact info listed below.

You consider him removing the lanyard as altering the characteristics of the knife?

Wow, that's weak. That lanyard A. is easy to tie and B. can be learned by practically anyone with access to Youtube in about four minutes.

You sold a knife with issues that you didn't disclose, I expect Paypal will be giving the guy his money back. Good luck trying to play hardball over a cheap length of paracord. I wish I could see your face when Paypal takes that money out of your account. :)

Maybe next time you'll be forthcoming in your ads instead of hoping that the people buying your knives don't notice obvious shortcomings.

Like I said if he could return it in the condition in which he received it there wouldn't be an issue (never said he altered the characteristics). My facial expression won't change. It's just money. I bought the knife second hand on here and sold it in the same condition that I received it. I never had an issue with it and the only reason I sold it was because I never carried it.
 
pretty sure zt would fix these problems for the cost of shipping...lots of bad press over a 125 dollar knife...i think mattal should consider removing "service provider" from his title! lol

Your a knife maker and you don't perceive blade play and an uneven sharpening job as an issue? But yet removing paracord is an issue? Dude, seriously make sure you block me so I don't buy a knife off you if the quality control on your knives is that bad. Your a service provider as well maybe change that to bad service provider. Your wrong here bud

I did remove the lanyard with the intention of disassembling it. Then it all came washing over me like a wave. Detent play that wasn't mentioned, bad bevel that wasn't mentioned, sanded clip that wasn't mentioned. Additionally I realized I trusted this guy a little too much coupled with little description in the ad, only a few pictures in the ad and abrupt PM responses. I thought to myself, "if I disassemble this knife these are going to become my problems". I figured a "Craftsman/Service Provider" here would be a little more of a trustworthy. Also, yes, I am also going to let your IG customers know of what a shady businessman you are. I saw your post about selling on IG in the GBU and you say the only problems you have had were customers with "unrealistic expectations", apparently that means customers who expect to receive what you sold them in the condition you described huh?

This is simply amazing that this had to go to PayPal over a piece of paracord.

I've dealt with HalJordon before, he's easily one of the best on the forums.

I do my best to stay neutral in these kind of situations, but in this instance it's kind of hard to... mattal21 if your going to be a service provider on here maybe you should take the time to learn how to tie a piece of paracord.
 
Looks like mattal21 is using the paracord excuse to weasel his way out any responsibility for his half of the transaction. For $125.00, he willing to show everyone how bad of business person he really is. Stupid thing to do when you are trying to advertise as a service provider.
 
Shouldn't have removed the lanyard, but it nothing a service provider shouldn't be able to handle. Good luck on getting your money back....

Buy a lot here and I will not use mattal21 for any services he is offering here. Your response to the op was sad hope this bites you in the rear for a long time
