Shit Hal, I looked at that green 0566 and thought about getting it. Glad I didn't.

You what's funny. I asked him questions about it and in the few minutes it took him to respond someone else called it in the thread then backed out. It was a sign from above and I just didn't recognize it. :)

Good to hear that this issue may get resolved. It's a shame that it had to come down to a thread like this. Should have been easy for two rational people to fix amongst themselves. Appears both got stubborn in some form or another and dug their heels in a bit. OP should not have cut the lanyard off and advised the seller of issue for return. Seller should have not got so hung up on the lanyard thing and looked past it, as the knife they sold did have an issue not stated. Who knows what all was said between the two? This could have added to the problem, or not. Assuming this all works out in the end, I do not think I would have a problem with dealing with either party.

It's new paracord, retied. I wouldn't have been able to reuse the old piece and kept it the same length, it would have ended up shorter to make the knot and properly burn the ends.

An interesting turn of events. I anxiously await the outcome.

I see mattal21 is "currently browsing this thread".

When someone is willing to work with you on an issue you probably shouldn't continue to make hateful comments. I purchased the knife with the lanyard on it (it wasn't something I added) and it was one of the things that I liked about it. Paypal's policy states the requirements for a return/refund and that information is available on their website. I didn't remove the lanyard so it wasn't my responsibility to replace it. As for the "flaws" listed about the knife it's a used mass produced item that was being sold at 60% of the cost of a new one (including the price of the aftermarket scale). I did not make the knife so I did not have any control over the build quality (I also never disassembled it). You messaged me and asked for pictures of things you thought could be an issue for you after you agreed to purchase it and within minutes I sent pictures of those. I could go on and on about this but I'm going to stop there.

PM received from mattal21. I'll be shipping this back to him tomorrow using Priority Mail. He has agreed to a full refund plus $6.80 return shipping costs.

Good on you mattal21, this is how you build your name back. I'll be on the lookout for that 0566 in the exchange.

Glad things are working out but make sure you position the stamps on the package the exact same way as the package you received. Also, use the exact same kind of tape... otherwise, who knows???
I'm sure he doesn't care but I still would never deal with mattal21.

I gotta tell you, me neither. Which sucks. I had seen his work on IG before buying from him, he does some cool stuff. I have a couple of knives I was thinking of sending to someone for customization and was considering him.

I bought new orange paracord to remake lanyard so I could make sure it was the same length as the one that came off of it. I wouldn't have been able to recreate that knot with the original piece and been able to keep it the same length because of the way it's tied. Plus the piece that was on there was dirty. Anyway, I bought 50' for $4.97 plus tax as WM and it took 25" to make the lanyard. So essentially this entire problem was over 21¢ worth of paracord and 20 minutes worth of work which includes the time it took to search for a couple YouTube videos and watch them.

I can kind of understand his point about wanting to get it back the way he sent it but I'm not sure I would have let 21¢ and 20 minutes keep me from making a customer happy.

Additionally and most ironically if he decides to send it to ZT for warranty service he is going to have to put the factory scale back on it or they probably won't service it. That will entail removing the lanyard.

It's like a bad dream...nice lanyard by the way!

Hey Hal!!! Can I send you a few knives for you to tie that lanyard on???
Sorry my friend.....my infantile personality wouldn't let me slide on that one!
😄

Um Hal. Your gonna need to upgrade your membership level to service provider, don't forget :D

It's like this forum has gone from being composed of knife enthusiasts to being composed of comedians. :)
