just got done watching the alien autopsy(sp) film

i think mr strider was holding the camera-

wow 98 people look at this thread

Gentlemen, let's stay on topic, please. Spark never questioned the qualifications of Messrs Mawhinney or Marcinko. The case of Mr. Mike Bottoms (alias Mike Ajax) is also peripheral to the topic at hand at best.

My wife just told me that we both have combat experience. I stand corrected. I wasn't counting the war games we played every year in the service for 2 week camping trips living in tents setting up "MASH" units and practicing for a real emergency triage situation where even though my MOS was dental technician, for two weeks every year I was an EMT on a make up battlefield caring for the injured. After reading that thread someone posted the link to with me I think she figured that some other vets obviously count training excercises as combat duty, or maybe she picked that up from this one. Either way I figured I better pass on the info to set you all straight. :D

Well, I thought it was funny.

So whats the new question? Is Richard Marchinko the real deal or have lots of folks been suckered by the Rogue Warrior and his 93 confirmed kills. Marchinko must have ben a good Con as he served an an officer in Force Recon's group.

Chuck Mawhinney [SP?] also seems like the real dedal also but as soon as you crucify Mick, get to work on the next two will ya? I am also saddened by those who taqke away the glory of those who have been in real fikre fights.

I was in a short firefight where almost 600 rounds was fired by the BG and my cover vehicle ended up with 169 bullet holes and me four. Sure wish I had me a real sniper that day, where was marchinko damnit!!!!!!

*Again disclaimer: I have never heard of these two alleged snipers until today so I do not know if they are real. But marchinko's been written up alot as has the other guy. naybe they are superb Posers.............................maybe not.

What happens in training stays in training. PERSEC!!!! ya-know?:D

Everything about Mick Strider is explicable by just screaming "EVER HEARD OF PERSEC?!?"

The SEAL is much more controversial than is the Marine between those two. What anyone gets from their tales are plenty of details to confirm things for themselves if they wish.

No one gets that with Mick, and that has nothing to do with the strictures of the spook world.

I have a wild hunch that Mr. Marcinko might take a dim view of Mr. Strider's marketing plan versus his actual military career. I would be surprised if he is seen hanging out at the Strider booth at Shot 2008. I guess that time will tell.

Hi Y'all,

It keeps being repeated that this scandal is old news. I am a member here and I didn't know anything about it until this week. I must not be deep enough in the Knife World to be on the distribution list.

Same thing for me. This is all completely new to me!!!

Chuck had over 100 kills i Nam and was considered "deadly at any range". Chuck had more kills than carlos hathcock.

This website has some mention of the man:

http://www.snipercountry.com/articles.htm#History

But lets ask Spark to verify these guys are not Posers, I would hate to see them detract from the true war heroes of America.

Then after them, we have..............................................................

Ira, please don't try to imply I question their integrity. I would have walked up to them with a grin on my face and asked their service dates, just to take Mr 2 Paycheck's money, no problem at all. But if you think I have any doubts about their well documented history, you need your head examined.

Mick Strider's non-existant history and utter lack of documentation is another story.

Ira, if you're interested in false claims of military service, I suggest reading "Stolen Valor." It gives a good perspective on the issue.

We also should have asub forum in Prac-tac identifying every alleged Poser who is affiliated, with the knife industry. not necessarily as makers but as Posers who anger us Knife knuts by detracting from the true service records of said Knife Knuts.

Mick caould be assigned spot one and then should you decide Marchinko and Mawhinney are fakes they can take spots two and three. We should at least try to list 100 and SPOORT kevein even if he has to give out loads of free memberships and maybe even large gift certificates to 1SKS. Maybe if he offered McClung five years of free knives kevein would have said "OK". ISKS is his damn business and he can do whatever he wants with it, and since I don't contribute to 1SKS I will have no reaction to 1SKS absorbing 100% of the costs. As a paying member of BFC I have no say but I have every right to voice my displeasure. it's the last $25 I spend here............

Oh and Kevin, you may not yet question it but who knows, maybe putting in the same effort will clarify for many who don't know these heroes whether they are real or Posers.

And I DO need my head examined, this thread has caused my Cerebellum to Vapor-lock!!!!!!!:D :D :D

And I am sick and tired of idiots out there saying because I was attached to a Ranger Battalion, I was a Ranger. Without the TAB you ARE NOT A RANGER!!!! The TAB proves that you have the stuff to make a RANGER. RIP is just a teaser course to see if you have the shit to pass the Ranger School. Special Forces have the same thing. That way they can boot people who they feel will not make it through the training without having to waste more time with the real thing. From reading Micks accounts, he passed RIP, probably started Ranger School, got hurt and then got told he would have to be let go, had a fit, then got booted. This sounds more realistic than a busted PRIVATE being called upon to SAVE THE DAY.

Paul

You hit the nail on the head, dude. Just cause you go to RIP doesn't mean you're a ranger and neither does working at one of the battalions. There are a lot of soldiers assigned to Ranger bats that don't have the tab.
Oh yeah, I'm pretty sure altering a DD214 is a huge no-no.

Military.com's DOD files come from DOD. You do not have to be a member for the buddy finder to list you. If your name come up with a M beside it, then it means you are a member of military.com. Type Mickey R Burger into the Buddy Finder. It only brings up his DOD file, not him being a member. You do not have to be a member for it to work. It is not always up to date for active duty personnel. And it does not have every name ever listed. I have used Military.com's buddy finder to disprove others claims and trying to locate a friend from Korea.

My sister's boyfriend made a claim to me that he earned the CIB in the Army Infantry during Desert Storm, and then got asked to become a Captain in the Seals. Turned out he was a fork lift operator and once the facts were brought to his attention.... I never heard anymore claims of granduer.

Paul

Damn, I better quit telling people I was the door gunner on a space shuttle.
