Midwest gathering???

I know I would be able too the last week in July...wait If its on the weekend I am open just about anytime....Bennett has trout fishing, daily fee 3.00 I think

I'm really only available that weekend of the 8th, but to be honest, these new places we're looking at are all too far away for me to swing anyway. For example, Lake of the Ozarks is over 8 hours from me. I never even considered all the flooding in Iowa, but you're probably right. There are nice places up near me, but then ya'll would be driving the 8 hours :) I think it may be best to just consider me out for this one, and all you Missourians can go somewhere in MO.

Chicago.

The problem is the weekend of the 8th is the weekend I come back from Briar Patch Outdoors for survival training.

So upside: I'll have all kinds of survival stuff to practice.
Downside: I have to justify to the wife that as soon as I come back from a week of camping...... I'm going camping... I can probably swing that, but not if it involves 16 hours of driving :)

My cousin wants to come. He's in the middle of Iowa. So on that note, Loud Thunder made great sense. Actually, any of those border of Iowa/Illinois sites would work good. I'm thinking we have me from Chicago, Rocky from up in MN, and ya'll from MO, then Iowa is kind of the midpoint. But you're right, I bet a lot of that has been trashed from flooding. We could maybe call and check them though.

LOL, and I just noticed that Rocky can't do the 8th. He can do the last weekend of July, however that's when I'm out at Briar Patch.

This is worse than planning a business meeting!

Starved rock is probably safe. That's a good ways in from Iowa.

Hey Rocky, what all dates are you open man?

Sounds good mark. You can drive or I can, dont matter, I have an expidition, so ASSume the position! hehe. No point in us both driving! Anyone else who wants to carpool can roll too!

I called Loud Thunder. The only thing they've had go wrong from the flooding is the boat docks are gone, so no launching boats. I don't think that effects us.

They are a first come first serve camp site, and routinely fill says the ranger. His recommendation is that we decide on a weekend, and then reserve the group site. It's large enough for 10 tents. It has no additional fees, you just pay the normal $11 per night per tent. The only catch is you need to mail them a check for $20 to hold it.

It is available the weekend of August 8th-10th. It is not available any other weekends in August.

Haven't heard from Aceofblades in awhile, but this was his idea. We should make sure he's good for that weekend.

Hey Guys - I think I can do this. Plus, its about 60% of the way to my wifes family so she can drop me, she gets to visit the folks (and I don't have too) - yeah I'm liking this idea. I just have to work on her a bit. That is a good weekend for me!

Man... Knives, Beer, AND you get out of seeing the in-laws? Is this heaven?... No, it's LOUD THUNDER!

So.... as much as it would be awesome to coordinate this with as many people as possible, I doubt the Loud Thunder site will remain open too much longer being that it's already booked for most of the weekends this summer.

I'm in
My Cousin's in
j williams is in
I think charlieridge is in
I think kgd is in

Anyone else?

J would you want to take care of the reservations at Loud Thunder or do you want me to?

Yep if we are talking Aug 8-10 - I'm in. My wife is delighted (to be away from me and visit her folks).
