Midwest gathering???

I'm still trying to see if my martial arts thing is on or not. My instructor isn't sure we have enough to go this year so I may be in for this gathering!! I will find out asap and if I am coming it will be me and my 2 sons.

As a former black belt in Tae Kwon Do, I'm usually all about martial arts stuff, but in this case, no offense, I hope it's cancelled :)
 
I have a portable propane grill if you want me to bring it. My cousin and I will probably do some shopping before we get there (gotta get beer at least). I usually just do hotdogs on the fire. I'll have my jetboil with me as well if we need to boil water for anything.
 
Well it would be fun if people bring a few of their favorite gear items - even if its not all fully utilized on the weekend. Just getting a first hand demo of something in use is often so much better reading up on it. You also get to learn how to use said item in the process of evaluating it.

I'd really like to see a machete in a little chopping action if somebody has one kicking around. I'll bring my fiskars and Breeden's and few other knives, MSR whisperlite stove and a few other things I tend to use.

Hey Noshtero, I earned a TKD first dan in my youth too!
 
Anyone hear anything out of anyone else? so far the definates are myself, noshtero, and kgd.
 
If this is open to anyone, I might be able to make it.

I have been lurking on the forums for a while now and just found this theard. I have made a few post but not many.

I live in central Iowa and I am taking a motorcycle trip to TN later this month, if it goes long, I may try to come back through the quad cities.

I will be on my bike, so will have limited gear (just enough for one camping).

I'm interested, but have limited skills to offer.

All are welcome dude. Come through, Im gonna do a wilderness first aid class, and we can do some other stuff too! The more the better!!
 
All right....cause I'm lazy and don't want to read through all the previous posts, where, when, how much? I may be able to make it! Martial arts camp cancelled!!!!!
 
Loud thunder forest preserve, Ilinois city IL. It was 20.00 to reserve the site, which was handled by noshtero, and 10.00 per tent. 8,9,10 of augest. I hope you can make it dude! That would be sweet! j
 
Don't worry about my site reservation. It was $30 to reserve the site, but that goes towards tent fees. Since I'll be paying for 2 nights, and so will my cousin, we've sucked up all of the $30.

So $11 a night per tent for non-county residents is all you will pay. You'll need to bring your own food though. We'll be there for 2 nights (8th and 9th).
 
So will I. More than likely will head home around noon on the 10th. Hey nosh, is there gonna be plenty of trees to tie up to, ya think?
 
I will be in the quad cities next weekend for my grandmas 80th birthday, so I am gonna pull some recon on the site, and look around a little. I will let you guys know about the trees, and such.....
 
Nice! We have the group site, and if I understand correctly, there is only one. Should be easy to spot.
 
I just looked this up on the map and it looks like it is not far from Muscatine IA, where I went to 2nd and 3rd grade. I might have to drive through there for the heck of it.
