Mnandi: My latest Obsession

Thanks Dino!

I feel lucky to have found the forum and to have purchased my first Mnandi from Big_E.
great transaction and a beautiful piece.
I'll likely hand this down to my son when he is old enough

Here's my newest Mnandi. Hooked it on Christmas day. Really wanted a Mesquite..........

I looked at that one long and hard. The only reason I didn't go after it is that I bought 2 super nice Sebs the day before. That knife is really nice! Congrats!!!!

A closer perspective :o

If there is any left handed Mnandi owners out there, I'd like to hear how comfortable left handed operation is for the right handed knife. I'd love to get one but have never had the pleasure of handling a Mnandi. Thanks. You guys sure have some beauties! May look into a L-H model if I can find one.

I use them left-handed quite a bit, I'm ambidextrious. I also use my Lefties right-handed sometimes. They're pretty comfortable to open and close off-handed, but of course it's really sweet to get one for the hand you use. Lefties are out there, but can be elusive. I have 3 right now.

Excuse my lacking here but since this knife has a thumb NAIL groove, is 2 handed opening required as per a slip joint knife, or can it be thumbed open as you would with a thumb stud? How's the smoothness & ease of blade opening? Thanks again.

I can open them one-handed. It's not as easy as with a thumb stud, but not bad at all. Of course, it helps that the knife is super smooth to begin with.

Thanks. Considering the character of the knife, I have no problem with 2 handed operation here. This is a different breed than the larger one handed tools. I'm really taken with the gorgeous Damascus/wood inlay stuff I $ee. ;)

OK girls & guys, out with it! Who snatched all those nice Mnandis at TNK?

By the time I had a look they were all gone! :(

Kind regards,

Jos

You said a mouthful there Jos! I was out clearing snow yesterday afternoon. Came in and saw my email alert from TNK. Immediately went to their site and saw a bevy of MI Mnandis .... all showing as available. Clicked on the one which seemed the nicest to me (one of the barks with some nice greens in it) to get a better look. When the page loaded ...... it was now showing as out of stock. Went back to the main page .... all but one were now gone! Rats .... too slow on the draw!!!!! But .... that's part of the thrill of the hunt ..... which is a big reason why I take pleasure in someone snagging a nice piece ..... whether it's me or someone else. So, whoever snagged some of those beauties ..... congrats!

Wasn't me - I was thinking hard on the one at the bottom of TNK's list but took too long to think and then it was gone. The good news is I have another coming from a member here.

I didn't get a Mammoth bark, instead I bought an Inner-cut Ivory, the white one.

I had the option on a couple of them but passed..there was only one that I really liked.

I have the 5th one from the top down coming my way, can't wait.

Not I.
I've been buying purely off the exchange so far.
Some nice pieces on TNK tho.
