Mnandi: My latest Obsession

Damascus holds up very well, the only difference is with use the blade tends to lighten up a bit (where you rub the damascus). Locutus D'Borg is spot on with the gritty feeling when opening and closing, it all depends on how deep the etching was done on the damascus blade.

This is something that surprised me about the damascus blades. I suppose they can't mask the area traveled by the detent when etching because the travel area goes just outside the handle when opening and closing the knife so you would see the unetched/masked part of the blade. Given the other possible options to fix that I would go with their choice as well.

Thanks to all for your input. As time passes and I spend more time with my knives, look at photos, and read and learn about ...well everything, I suppose it is natural that my tastes will evolve. Where there was once a strong preference for understated and simple, I now find myself staring at the damascus knives. Knowing that Devin Thomas is the one who made the blades should be enough, but hearing from first hand experience that these will continue to perform while also looking spectacular makes me look forward to being able to acquire one for myself.

The one that gets the most pocket time:

This time, in Lignum (thanks keepitsimple). Have been looking for a lignum Mnandi for quite some time (was really hoping to find one with a grain/coloring to Bluesummers' outstanding lignum). While not quite my grail lignum Mnandi ..... it will satisfy my desire until that perfect one comes along!!

Dennis

I'm more than happy to take that Lignum Mnandi off your hands when the perfect one shows up
Absolutely beautiful.
Enjoy and let me know when you're ready

Jeff

I've had the lefty for a while, now I've got a righty inbound. I've been led to believe I have the ONLY lefty.

That's an awfully good looking knife you've got to match you're very special lefty, Lone_Wolfe. :D

Thank you! :D So what nasty thing did you say to me before the edit? ;) haha

LW,
Love these Mnandi's, especially with the Luminor I'm the background.
Very nice, I may have to take some pics of my own

Cheers

J

Thank you! I wish I could claim the Panerai was mine, but that's the seller's pic. I could lay it up against my blue Sub if you like. :D

Outstanding Score Dennis, it's very rare to see that beautiful green on a Mnandi.

Thanks Dino .... will still continue my quest to find a (more) perfect lignum, but, nevertheless, pleased with this one. Really appreciating the shades of green, however, requires the correct light and viewing angle. The pics I took of it employed five 85W 5500K lights positioned to best show the Mnandi and its inlays. The inlays look much darker under dimmer lighting (such as a room with just incandescent lights). But ..... and I should probably get this off my chest .... I love the Mnandi and this one is no exception!!

I forgot the "e" and the end of Lone_Wolfe - nothing nefarious at all. :) As much as I'll miss this one, I'm glad to know it's going to somebody who will really appreciate it. If you ever decide to move it, though...

Not rare or 10k years old, but it's mine and I do love it.

It's the best combination of non-threatening and high performance I could imagine.

And I never would've even considered getting one without this thread! Thanks, all.

Your Lignum is awesome as well. Like that green. My pics are poor compared to how you make that Mnandi pop.
