Modified Production Knives (traditional only)

I like the silver handle mod! Looks cool and rough at the same time.

Here's one I just finished. I have made one other TL-29 mod like this, although the color came out darker on this one.

And another TL-29 mod I did recently....

Wow, Glenn--those old TL's look great!

and r8shell, that is totally out there on its own--in a good way. I bet it feels good in the hand.

Thanks for sharing!

Great job on those electrician's knives, Glenn. They're beautiful!

Man, this thread is nothing but amazing work, makes me jealous looking at these posts!

Has anyone had experience with modifying a pen blade into a sheepsfoot or coping blade with a stone? I have a couple pocket knives (a canoe and a jack) that would benefit from a mod like this. I am just scared of it looking like a hack-job and messing it up.

I modified the pen blade on my Outlaw into a coping blade. I didn't use stones to cut it off (did that with a water cooled grinding wheel), but finished it by hand using stones. It's not hard to make it look good, especially the coping blade. Just use the stones to make the cut flat and smooth, then chamfer the edges and round off the top the way you like. I'd say go for it, if you don't have two left hands it won't look like a hack-job.

Here's mine when it was new:

Great mod on that blade, Sturzi! It looks factory to me!

Those knives look very beautiful.

Could you make a step by step guide about moding a TL29 knife? I want to try and make one into a single bladed slipjoint, but lack the knowledge and skills.

Not the first time I have been asked this. One of these days, I will take the time to take some pics as I go. If I can do this, most anyone can! Thanks for kind words.

Thanks for the comments. Jack. The great knives and history you keep posting are inspiring, and makes me try to raise my game to the next level!

This is my first crack at modifying a TL-29 into a single blade slippie. I used ebony for the covers and N/S pins. It came out OK for my first try.

That's your first try? Yowza! I can't wait to see the next ones. That looks great!

Rehandled a Sodbuster Jr. CV with some homemade micarta. The copper is a conductive mesh used in black hawks and apaches, I call the micarta "apache copper".

This is an old Sabre I just rehandled for a friend of mine. I added a bolster and Jatoba scales I cut from some lumber I had.

I'm still really new to this(only been at this for about 2 months), I would really appreciate any critiques!

Yikes, I had to rescue this thread from Page 17.

Here are a few I completed recently...the blue and red ones I am donating for a raffle at our company fundraiser for Easter Seals this Friday.
