Modified Production Knives (traditional only)

I have recently been bitten by the modification bug. Tons of fun giving new life to
neglected knives.

Markesharp, out of curiosity, do have your anvils listed for sale on the forum anywhere?

Here are some Keen Kutter Barlows that I am going to work on when I get more time. I made the anvil myself. Glenn...PM me if you are in need of an anvil like this (for free ;)

Great work Vita! I don't have any listed right at the moment. Send me a PM.

Regards
Mark

Hey Mark, that stiddy anvil looks good! Nice and flat. How did you make it? What kind of steel did you use?

Hi Phillll. I made it in my companies machine shop using a Bridgeport mill, drill press and a surface grinder. The top is hardened tool steel and the base is CRS.

I've used the heated vinegars, but I was interested in using PCB

Yes you did and you also asked if it was "say"......which I interpreted as safe. The Material Safety Data Sheet I posted tells you the toxins in PCB.

This is a Case XX 62087 1940-1964 two blade jack that I picked up for 10 bucks from a co-worker. It was found in an old tool box that he purchased. The main blade had wobble and the pen blade was chipped up.

Here it is after peening, filing, sanding and polishing the pivot pin and re-profiling the pen blade. It has great snap and the blades are perfectly centered when closed.

I like it much better now and have it in my pocket today.

Nice repair job there Mark! You really brought new life back into that guy.

Very impressive Mark. What did your coworker say when he saw what a beauty that duckling turned into?

Wow Mark, that looks great!
