Modified Production Knives (traditional only)

Here's one I finished recently. It was a Camillus 78 stockman. I modded it into a 2-blade jack with some campfire stag that I gave a special color treatment to.

Thank you for the kind words, Paul!

Beautiful knife Glennbad! I just picked up a Camillus 72 at the flea market yesterday. The brown delrin covers are shrunken and cracked. I think I'll redo it in ebony.

That sounds like fun, please share your results when it's finished!

Hello!
as i recently posted a picture of my modified case muskrat in an other thread i thought maybe it would be nice to see the modifications/adjustments/customizations of your traditionals.
one reason (but not the only one) i acquired so many knives the last years was the search for the perfect one (or at least the one that is able to perform the tasks i throw at it) and is comfortable to carry-the case jumbo stockman for example is one knife that can handle most tasks perfectly but is as perfect for EDC as a brick. the "problem" is that it is always something wrong-the size, the steel, the blade combination, the handle material, etc. i found the case knives to be perfect as what they are (materials, fit and finish, walk and talk) but case cannot know what i need so for me they come in a neutral setting which i have to adjust to suit my needs. and when i'm done i love the knives even more.
(i know that you loose warranty when doing a modification but i buy knives to use them and only modify those which i'm shure i'm going to keep)
so i start with the case muskrat and i hope you find the thread interesting and join it.
(i searched for similar threads but found non, i apoligize if i missed them)

the reason for the modification was that i love the case texas jack but its too small for many tasks, i like the looks of the case pen knife but its even smaller, i love the sheepsfoot and the main blade of the jumbo stockman but the knife is too big for EDC so i searched for a knife with a sheepsfoot and a large clip blade, CV steel and about 3 7/8 to 4" size which is ok for EDC and still can handle the tasks....

Very nicely done, and the result is a very handy 2-blade combo.

I likewise always find myself tinkering with blade shapes, scales, tangs, kicks, etc., to arrive at something that suits me a little better.

I'm going to merge this with one that is very similar.

Nice looking blade mod on the muskrat!

thanks glennbad! i like your work on the camillus stockman! i thought about disassembling knives too but never did because i always feared not to get the right pins for reassembling them. do you know what parts you need before you start?

I have a selection of pin stock on hand. As for the cover materials, I either have it on hand or get it specifically for the project.

Thanks.
