Modified Production Knives (traditional only)

Just finished up this old Richards Sheffield. Replaced the bolsters with solid nickel silver. Natural canvas micarta, brass lanyard tube and a nicely finished blade. Still needs an edge to finish it off.

Pinches open like a dream. And it's flush at all three positions.
Thanks for looking.

Sweet! That's gorgeous!!!

This afternoon I was looking at my Queen half whittler. It's seen very little use due to the wavy, butter knife grind. I also don't like the mismatched stag...

So I let it soak in a coffee spa for a while,

Then busted out the sandpaper, and went from 100 grit down to 600. Nice, thin, even grind on both blades, and the stag came out pretty nice too!

Nice job! It's very satisfying to fix up these old knives and give them the love they deserve

I love all the modified traditionals in this thread! Thank you all for sharing! This is where I go for inspiration.

Here are a few examples of some swedge work I've done

Such a fan of your swedges! I love how the crisp spine transitions into them, also.

Thanks! It's definitely one of the scariest parts of the the craft. There's no going back once you start.
I believe the one in the middle is the knife I'm working on for you.

Looks great!

Turned my Coffee House Acrylic 74 into a linerless CF shadow Wharncliffe Trapper. Also my first go at a shield. Shield, birdseye pivot, and pins are all brass (pivot pin is NS). Very happy with how it turned out! Much thinner and lighter now, feels great in hand and in pocket.

Almost done with this 29. Still needs an easy open notch. Carbon steel blade will take a nice patina.

The sweetest part about this knife is that I bought it. Or maybe one exactly like it. It should be here in a day or two. I also bought another one from birdvis before this one.
I'll get pics up on both once the other one gets here. Seeing the first one in person and some of his other work, I'll tell you right now, I'll be getting more. :D

Thanks a lot Hale Storm! Yes that is the very knife heading your direction. I'll tell you what, I was really enjoying having it in my pocket. Hope you get the same satisfaction out of it!

Couple more of my TL29 mods.
Working on improving my shield inlay methods.

Just finished this lambsfoot mod today. I think it came out really clean looking.

Ha!!! What a day. Found birdvis here on BF. Realized I bought the other TL29 with the blue liners (GORGEOUS by the way!) and spoke of the first one I bought from him.

Well, guess what? That one at the top of these pics is it and is sitting on my nightstand right now. :D

Carried it today after lunch as a matter of fact.

It appears you just started modding these traditionals but I can't tell after seeing the first one in person. Absolutely wonderful fit and finish!

I'll need to buy a few more from you and maybe send you a couple of mine to do custom work before you realize how good you are and the prices go up. ;)

Lastly, as you can see, my logo is a shield. Any idea how I can get my HS engraved in the shield of this one. I have no clue where to start. A jeweler maybe? I'd rather trust a member here though.

Any ideas would be greatly appreciated.

Ben, the Coffee House Acrylic 74s are fine knives while your Linerless Shadow CF... it's in a league all it's own!!!
Just outstanding Sir!!!

Ice Tigre - I really like what you did on that Muskrat. Major improvement, IMHO.

Thank you Sir!

The industry is really short on options for knives with this combo, just two blades sheep's foot or wharny with a large clip.. Ill never ubderstand why since it's always so popular for modified knives.

Boy, Howdy!! That stag sure came out a fantastic color, congrats!

wow, Wow, and WOW! is all I can say!
Absolutely gorgeous work!

Shipwright...I cant say enough to sum up how that knife turned out...speechless.

Birdvis is cranking out some beaut's lately!!! Im still over here trying to get one to look and function the way I want it. Im getting close!

Matt
