Sure is some gorgeous work shown in here!
Makes me a bit apprehensive about posting more of mine... But while cleaning up my current knife shelf last night I came across a few older mods, thought I'd post them now before they go into storage again for a while.

Bear MGC USA Damascus trapper that I rehandled in moose antler, worked bolsters, textured springs.

Camillus Roughcut Carbon-V stockman dropped to one blade and shadowed in edge grain bocote. Vintage Winchester W-W 30-30 shield. (As a side note, this one was how I found out, contrary to the beliefs of the reloading world, how hard it is to neutralize a cartridge primer... I soaked 3 in wd-40, water, and 3 in one oil, one each, and one all three, for 2 to 3 days... they all went off at a firing pin hit. The one set in this shield I set off with heat.)

Beautiful work birdvis! You should seriously consider making custom knives. You have talent and an impeccable artistic gift that I have not seen since I have been on this forum.

Wow that is a great compliment. Thank you very much! I have all the intentions of making custom knives, just working my way up to that level

You are already there talent wise. It's just a matter of grinders and a little machinery and you are golden. :)

Wow!

I'm not usually a fan of multiple stacked materials and stripes, tends to be too busy for me, but that is really classy looking, well done!

You should get into making your own knives, you definitely have "the touch"! I made knives for years, then got into modding folders... I find making a knife from scratch (fixed blades ) infinitely easier than re handling or modifying factory fixed blades and folders. Less pre existing form to follow/conform too is easier!

Makesharp is right, with you skill in fit and finish, you should have no problem making your own.

Thanks again to everyone for the compliments and encouraging words!
Here is yet another knife I finished today. I modified the blade to a lambsfoot and therefore shortened the spring and handle to fit the blade more appropriately.

Very nice! Very nice indeed!

I converted a standard 4" trapper to single blade(clip) a while back, and have been thinking about doing that with the left over spey and spring, shorten by about 1/2" and make it a sheepsfoot.

Think you just pushed me over the edge to do it, if I can find shop time this week!
