Modified Production Knives (traditional only)

After seeing Pinnah's pics, I'm tempted to drop the tip of my old Mora a little.

Thanks for kind words guys. I really appreciate it.

Jack, not all blades have dropped nicely for me. I dropped the tip of a well used Opinel #8 a few years ago. It had been sharpened enough that it didn't have much belly left and once it was dropped... I dunno... it just didn't work.

Since then, I've taken to cutting out paper to a curve or marking up a blade with magic marker to get a sense of what it will look like dropped before I reach for my files.

On the other hand, they're only knives and are all (mostly) replaceable.

Yes, I see what you're saying. In this case it's certainly not something I'd do lightly, but of course it's an irreversible process. Thanks a lot for the advice

Here's a Case Slimline Trapper I worked on a little. I jigged the delrin handles, They were sold brown delrin it looked awful..lol. I put a belt finish
on the hardware, bolsters and hit the blade as well. I rounded the edges off the delrin as well. Fun little project.. Thoughts?

Jigging looks factory, great job. Any before pics for comparison?

That looks great Jason!! I wouldn't have suspected it was modified at all

I doesn't look modified, so I count that as a great job.

This was my second try at doing some freehand filework, this time on my Opinel #6, using a round diamond needle file...

Josh , what did you to to the knife? Filework on the bolsters, Patina?

Either way, looks great!

Been a while since I posted any mods in here. Here's a couple I finished awhile back...

LF&C with ebony and new shield.

Boker razor jack with cream soda Catalina (I think) and acorn shield

Bulldog proto in smooth Amber

Queen single in Mahogany

Of course, the Schmelzer I did for Mykel...

LB7 in Amber stag bone

Camillus 72 in MOP

A Camillus 72 in green bone

And a Queen TL29 in ebony

Great work  Love that Camillus 72 in MOP :)

Wasn't there talk about a Belgian clasp knife...? ;)

Um, that is awesome!!! Love the belt finish too.
