That's one of the coolest Old Hickory mods I've ever seen.

Oh yeah!! That's gorgeous!!! You could make some money off me by making one for me.

I like the over all handle shape of the classic Opinel so I did a minimal modification project. I don't like the way classic Opinels roll around on different surfaces, mainly this applies to the smaller ones below the #8 size. I also wanted to make the blade more easily accessible from both sides. With even this amount of wood removal I had to refinish, so most of it got sanded smooth and I use red mahogany stain, before this I added a lanyard hole. I didn't think I would like this #7 with a lanyard but it works good so far. I left the pinched end in original condition since I didn't want to mess with the pivot end wood. To me it looks slightly better this way. I took my time and it still didn't take long and so far I'm happy with the result.

My wife has been wanting a small folder customized by me, and last night I worked like a madman (Christmas Eve ). The covers are African Blackwood and it is as smooth a fondlin" knife as I have ever handled...

I noticed a bunch of these modifications are rehandles. Can anyone recommend a good craftsman to rehandle a Belgian clasp knife with stag or ebony covers? Thanks.
