Mods, Regrinds, Cerakote, and Sharpening

Just got my NINE blades back from Josh all 9 are perfect. I appreciate the detail and explanation of what you did to what knives and why. Will have pics up tomorrow. The D2 710 finally has the sweet keen yet kinda toothy edge Ive always thought it should have. The Kershaw Rake I got back from you is so sharp Im almost afraid to use it lol. Oddly the Butch Ball 300 with its new edge made cardboard confetti of the box you sent them back in so easily I just found myself staring at the knife in my hand thinking "my God...now THIS is what Ball had in mind!" Payment sent will post pics tomorrow. Excellent service once again!

WOW!! Thank you, Josh. Excellent edge on the Seb. 25 that I sent you! Thanks for straightening it out for me. Hair popping sharp. If anyone is on the fence about sending your knife in to get it sharpened, re-profiled or whatever he does that you need, do it. You will most assuredly be impressed.

Tim

I love hearing feedback guys, thanks for posting up! It's amazing what reprofiling to 15 dps from what most stock edges are at (usually 25 dps or so).

Bryan, I LOVE that 600 grit edge, lightly stropped (VERY lightly)... so keen it will cut you before you know it so be careful bro!

Not only can he sharpen the edge better than I can, but Josh can also square up the spine perfectly for a fire steel. Thank you!

Damn, Josh! You are doing so well and I have yet to send a knife out to ya

I need to get on the ball!

I saw you sold a Blur where you took out the recurve. Do you have a pic of how that one ended up?

Haha thanks! It's just etched into it... not by laser =)

I think he meant you'll get his Hinderer cutting like a laser. :D I may have another to send your way too Josh, so keep up the great work!

Haha thanks Craig! how's your 0450 holding up for you?

On a side note, just finished up this Hinderer!

Still the jewel of my burgeoning collection sir, thanks to you! It's my "day off" EDC piece and I look forward to pocketing it every time. The anodization has worn down to an intriguing "denim" sort of shade that I couldn't have predicted...but it has really grown on me, and the mirror finish edge is still gleaming. Here's my favorite pic:

I just picked up a sexy Brous T4, but the edge grind and satin finish leave a little to be desired. And while I wouldn't want to go to 15dps, I'd still like to take it to about 18...more acute than average, but burly enough for cardboard work without needing constant honing. Do you think that's a fair assessment?

Beautiful pic man!! Sweet scale color =)\

On the Brous, What kind of steel is it? I generally favor thinner geometry w/ a micro bevel than a straight geometry at thicker edge angles =) but totally your call my friend!

Sending my ZT 801 your way...I cannot wait to see the finished product!

Looking forward to it! Power is getting turned on Monday per the power company! Gonna be a busy week that's for sure...

Hey, you're the expert, I defer to you, sir! Like most Brous stuff it's D2, so certainly hard enough to discourage me from trying anything on my own. The blade is a thick piece of meat, no doubt, but we wouldn't need to reinvent the wheel...just aiming to shallow it out a touch for a bit better cutting.

But transparent tomato slice-making isn't the goal...mostly though I want the sides symmetrical and even, with the satin finish on one side touched up. The reprofiling is just a perk, and since this is gonna be a heavy duty user, no mirror finish this time. :D

Should be able to do no problem... with D2 I would probably say 17-18 dps coarse finish... it will make a great EDC edge!

So, I purchased this new Titanium Fixed Blade and was totally astounded as even when new it struggled to cut a lemon or misc. fruit and veggies...Yep, that is pretty darn lame. I sent the knife back to Mission Knives in California they sharpened it and the knife was still dull to the touch and had the same problems.

My sharp knives are my swiss army keychain knives and my Benchmade MiniGrip which truthfully aren't that sharp but compared to this Titanium knife they are razors.

I wanted a short fixed blade I can carry in a pocket sheath. Take up little room and be good for prying, bottle opening, and cutting rope and fruit (I live in fruit orchard).

I sent the knife to Josh and wholly crap I am not sure if the same week return time is more impressive or how sharp the blade is. Its a true work of art now and it actually is sharp. Can't thank him enough but here are some pictures for ya'll.

The knife OAL is 5 1/2 inches w/ sheath its 5 3/4 inch OAL, but its thin without any handles yet the purchase feels just right.

Here is how the Knife looked before it was customized. I sent it out in the mail and the same work week had it customized and in my hand, and that includes shipping back and forth.

So around 50-60$ to have a reground and reprofiled knife? Also how low can you set the edge angle? I'm just thinking a reground manix in s110v would convince me to buy one :D. I'm considering buying a wicked edge to reprofile, but thats a BIG investment to reprofile

Shoot me an email (razoredgeknives@gmail.com) and we can discuss price and options but yes you basically have it correct 😊 I can set the edge at pretty much any angle you want, about down to 5 dps on the Wicked Edge and anything less than that would basically be zero ground anyway.
