Mods, Regrinds, Cerakote, and Sharpening

Pics of some recent work!

RHK xm-18 Wharncliffe, 17.5 dps, .017-.018" thick behind the edge. This one was at .030" thick at around 25 dps when I started, so now it's optimized yet will retain toughness.

Just received my reground ZT0808 back from Josh today, and it's amazing. This was my first ZT, and I was hoping it would be everything I wanted it to be. It had the solid construction, the rock solid lockup, but the edge and cutting performance just weren't there. My amateur sharpening skills just made things worse… until Josh reground it into perfection. It slices like crazy now! He also did an awesome job re-profiling my Spyderco Chaparral to make it even better at it's slicing duties!

Nothing but positive things to say about my experience overall--Josh was very helpful and responsive with all communications and I had my knives back in hand 7 days after he received them. Amazing work, excellent experience. I will DEFINITELY be sending more knives to Josh.

There you go. I am absolutely satisfied. This thing is wicked. First class job. Fast turnaround. Really exceeded my expectations. This knife has been in my pocket daily for 3 years and will be there for years to come. I have always liked this knife. Now, I love it. Thanks Josh

Very welcome my friend. Now show that thing some love and use it for some hard use and post up some pics!!! ;) would love to hear feedback after you have used it for a while.

Anyone wondering what Josh's work looks like after really hard use?

Here is an example of the amazing acid etch/stone wash he does;

This blade has cut on multiple occasions:

Plastic.
Metal.
Copper wire + insulation.
Lot's of hardwood.
Shredded old basketballs.
Tons of heavy cardboard.
Brush and soil.

(Most of this is residue that I could clean off)

I would say this. I have sent about 8 of my high end knives to Josh for work to be done on them and every time his work exceeded my expectations and the turn around time and shipping was very fast.

Chaves 228 in a bi-tone burnt bronze and stonewashed 45's =)

Thanks bud, it has been a pleasure to work for you!

Got another SMF I'm putting in the mail for you today. Basically want you to do it like the Recurve SMF you did for me. A happy medium between tough and cuts like a laser. :-) Thanks Josh. And I probably screwed up the form again.. :-)

Sounds good Greg! Nah you got the form filled out perfect! Hehe. Look forward to it 😊

Finished up another SATU w/ the last batch... blade shape change in conjunction w/ a regrind, contoured scales, Cerakoted. Also switched out thumb stud - this one is much more comfortable, and added finger choil.

damn I like that....I like it a lot.

It's the most popular black Cerakote makes. I really like the Armor Black tho, as it's more matte and just has a "softer" look to it, maybe just a hint of a sheen.

I thought about trying the Armor Black on that Satu, but I love the way it came out with the Graphite. Guess I'm gonna have to send you another knife so I can try a different color. :D
