Mom told me not to ask these questions...

I am 50
I like carbon fiber and g-10 for tactical folders, stag for my slipjoints, nice woods for fixed blades and giraffe bone, pearl and Ivory for fancy stuff.

The handle material has to fit the knife. Titanium, G-10 and even the cheap fg reinforced stuff used in the grip seem to work fine. For a fixed blade it's usually wood (varies by maker), but micarta and bone are also excellent. Still, it comes down to the material fitting the specifics of the knife as a whole. The handle material doesn't play a huge role in deceision making unless it's just wrong for the knife. Mother-of-Pearl is always wrong ;)

Age=over 50. . . I forget.

Let's just say <51.

Prefer mammoth ivory for dressier knives (Sebenza, Mnandi.) :D

For users - plastic (FRN, G10, micarta, etc)

I think the legality of going out and popping off a Giraffe for his leg bones may be a bit dicey, though. Isn't there some sort of ban on exotic animal parts from Africa?
I think giraffe bone in South Africa, which is where my knife by Theuns Prinsloo is from, is about as exotic as cattle bone in Texas. :)

I am 30 y.o. my favorite on my folders and fixed g10 or micarta. Just ordered a drop point with orange g10 from the graham brothers .

22.3 yrs old. Looking at the (nice) knives I own

Aluminum: Leek
Aluminum: MIcrotech socom elite auto
Micarta: Benchmade nimravus M2
?: whatever they used in the Buck Akonua (my mothers old boot knife, given to me when i was 12)
Titanium: Charge ti (hardly counts. i got the black version and the coating is about as nice as spray paint and the scales are very thin)

Being a poor engineering student, I cant afford to buy a knife that costs twice as much but I dont use because im afraid to damage it. Natural handle materials are very beautiful and very classy but not currently practical. That being said Titanium, fiber, and g10 if well executed are on my practical materials list.

P.S. LOOONG time lurker, First post. Finally have something useful to add about sharpening techniques and experiences so the above is my introduction post.

28. I like G10 and Micarta a lot, especially for their durability. However, the stacked leather handle of a Ka-Bar seems to feel right in the hand.

39, and I dig Jigged Delrin...

52, closing in on 53 in Jan, never was good with fractions, in fact I've
read that 5 out of 3 people are poor at fractions ;)

mammoth ivory is the favourite handle material, very cool stuff,
a slice of history there!

58, and generally I prefer wood but anything with a pattern will do to set off plain blades-micarta, titanium, ... or plain materials-bone, ivory, micarta with damascus blades.
Greg

What he said. except Im 53. and a very young 53 as well! :jerkit:

You do know that 50 is the new 30, yes? :D

I'm 41 years old, and prefer stag. I won't turn down a nice jigged bone knife, but I like the Sambar stag better if given a choice.

Turn 21 in a few days. Favorites that I've owned would be G10 and Paper Micarta. The best looking scales I've ever seen were mammoth tooth. That stuff looks incredible.

I'll be 26 in December.

G10 is probably my favorite. Titanium and wood otherwise.
