More #71 with micarta!

My red linen and natural canvas arrived today. I really like the simplicity and functionality embodied in the #71. The canvas in now on (in) pocket duty as I like the rougher canvas grip. It is smooth enough to not grab in the pocket but provides a very positive gripping surface. The pivot pin has a bit of edge, but I never would have found that out if not for this thread. It does not impact the way I hold or use the knife.

Thanks to Mike for making these knives possible.

The more I use mine, the more I find I really like the pull. I think they got it just right for a knife of this nature.

My red micarta #71 arrived yesterday:

Alignment is spot-on:

Folks have mentioned issues with "proud" pins, though more so on the micarta versions. On mine, the pins are just barely proud and I wouldn't even qualify it as an issue at all - in fact, it almost seems like they're supposed to be that way. All other f&f details are flawless:

All in all, this is definitely the finest sodbuster I've ever held.

Very good looking knife, SH! The red color just sings on this knife! Looks like it will be a pleasure to use.

I picked up the Natural Micarta and I love everything about this knife including the price.:p

Yes, these are a lot of knife for the money. My natural canvas has found a home in my watch pocket. Quite handy when needed and not in the way when in the pocket. It is a very light yet very capable knife.

mastersword, they are a collectorknives.net SFO.

In other news, I see green and maroon linen micarta on the GEC page!

Per the website the maroon and green linen will be in stock on the 30th. They are accepting preorders now.

Are these on sale already or did you pre-order? Yes the dark maroon looks nice and I'm wondering if they are going to follow these up with some wood.

I preordered, they won't hit the dealers until later this week. As for wood, I commented on GEC's facebook post today asking for some wood handles on the next run. They replied that wood handles would significantly increase the price on these knives. I'm not sure what "significantly" means but I stated that I thought people would be willing to spend a little more for wood handles. Maybe if they get enough people giving them feedback that they would pay an extra for some wood handles they'll consider a run, worth a shot if anyone is interested.

You just can't beat these knives. Here's a couple that have seen plenty of pocket carry and use. Those GEC bails (available at collectorknives.net) add just that extra bit of usefulness to them

JUST came in, literally opened up a half hour ago---so new in fact I don't have a fob on it yet:eek:

Very dark Maroon---love it, very rich in the sun but was very overcast when I just took these pictures:thumbup:

The sharp/proud pins on my Canvas Micartas don't bother me but this pin is nicely rounded/smooth and a nice touch;)

F&F is impressive on every Bull Nose I own. The Orange Red Neck, Green and Tan Canvas and this Maroon Linen:thumbup:

Centered blades with NO play period, good pull, just all around impressive.

We keep asking for wood or stag covers and maybe a linerlock but we forget the original intent of the Farm and Field Tool knives that GEC came out with. As they said to you Trev, anything added would drive the cost way up.

That's a looker Paul. I guess we were posting at the same time. I really like the maroon. NOW, PUT A FOB ON IT!!!!!!!!

Loving how dark the maroon is on these new #71's, really making me want to grab another one to go along with my natural canvas!

I mean, it's linen as opposed to canvas micarta covers, that's enough to justify having another one of these in my collection, right?
