More Mayo/Buck info

We have another model coming off the shelf into production this week that uses a TI liner..

Jeff - is this also a Mayo/Buck or something else new to tease us with... ;)

WE have ways of getting to the truth you know.....:D

Well, I reserved one of these last week. Hope they turn out to be the quality we are expecting.

well, I just read thru all the posts, and no, havent seen on in person yet, but I trust these guys, they know how to make knives, and with an S30V blade and pauls h/t I dont think there will be a problem.............as for the comparison with the seby, I take it as a compliment..........only ours have nicer handles and are $50 cheaper!!!!!!!!!!! :D

Tom,

would you mind having a look in the other thread (this one is getting quite long) regarding the collaboration knife:

The questions where:

Heat treat by Paul Bos - guess you answered that one already ;-)

To what RC the blade will be brought ?

Will the edge be Bucks Edge2000 or some special Mayo-bevel ?

Any pics of a closed knife and the backside wìth clip ?

Another poster asked for the OAL

TIA

Klaus

I took a trip to see my favorite knife store yesterday.
They are a certified Buck dealer. The manager of the store handled a prototype a week and a half ago when the Buck rep was in. Looks like the middle of January before I get mine:)

hehe :D

I knew I'd get you with that.. The knife I'm talking about is the Model 178 Adrenaline-Ti.

ATS-34, 3" modified drop point, 4.25" closed, 2.4 oz
Black Anodized Alum Handle
Blue/purple Anodized Titanium Liner Lock
Black Belt Clip.
Very nice looking High Tech style folder.

I don't remember off the top of my head what suggested retail is..

The Mayo's are going through final proving of assembly this week.. Very soon, very soon.. :)

Bill Keys, our Engineering Manager was in my office this morning with...duh duh duhdaaa A Buck/Mayo TNT collaboration.

I have to say I was impressed. Action was flawless, just the right tension for secure lock up/easy unlocking(no thumbwear), hair popping sharp, not a tool mark on it...I asked and Bill assured me they all will look and perform like this.

Hats off to Paul Naranjo on our engineering staff and Tom Mayo who continued to work with us long after the design was done.

I have carried a Buck Litning for the last 5-6 years and it is now getting retired by this time next week.

Two words that comes to mind are Classic and Flawless...

I wonder what Tom is going to bring us next

I LIKE C.J.'s last line - kinda leads me to think we will be seeing more Buck/Mayo knives down the road. I've already been following up on a "hint" by Jeff.... there is another in the works as we speak unless I am badly misinformed!!!

The 178 I mentioned above is not a Mayo, but if you all buy a lot of this Mayo, I'm sure we'll do more.. ;p

I'll try to get a set up pics up if I can get ahold of one for longer than a minute..

I gotta say, I've looked at 1000's of liner/frame locks of ours or others, and this knife has the sweetest, smoothest, action I've seen for awhile.

I am working on three projects right now, the first of which is going to be sent to the Buck Team within the month. A very nice looking liner lock with an S30V blade.

At first we are going to reproduce the medium model (3.25" blade) and hopefully soon thereafter make a large size with a little bit thicker blade and handle material, just like the ones I make. S30V blades and 6/4 Ti handles.

I will be coming out with a new model at the end of the year/beginning of Jan with an S30V blade and disc opener (it will be the second of my BUCK Collaberation knives) ; hopefully I will have some at the Vegas Classic, and it will probably take up half my knifemaking time in the near future (next few years)........so yes, the TNT production will be cut back in proportion.

OK - so these are three hints actually:

- a liner lock or is it just a typo ?
- a larger sized Buck/Mayo TNT
- the new design with disc opener - the second one as Tom writes :D

just my 2 cents of research

Klaus

Edited for bold highlighting

Will a Paul Bos-prescribed heat treat be applied to these S30V blades?

Also, which Buck retailers will be carrying these knives?

LODEN@dka-online.com

He will have it for a good price, and if you are getting more than one, become a Buck Collectors Club member for an even better price.(10% off of any Buck knife, including these other Mayo models, Buck/Stiders etc.)
