I am not able to disprove his statement, and I had read some comments with similar satements. There is no proof though, so who knows except Jim....his videos are suspiciousy positive though, and the point about his Sigil review are suspicious. No one who usually shows blade centering simply forgets to show it in a review, I just don't see that happening with a $1k+ knife
Do you have proof either way? I aam interested to know if he is legit or not from your opinion
I am not able to disprove a lot of things that people tend to think are true for their own misguided reasons, but that does not mean that they are in any way right...
I would tend to believe that Jim has reason to give better reviews on some of the knives he shows because he knows several of the makers that he reviews now, and generally one of two things is likely to occur:
1. He has collected a LOT of knives, and he knows what he will or will not like by now, and so most if not all of the knives he gets now are going to be something he likes (which honestly just makes sense when you collect more expensive knives).
2. He has his knives often made for him by people he is aquainted with, so there is a good chance that more effort goes into making his knives what he wants them to be, since the maker knows more what Jim likes than they would a normal customer. Again, pretty normal for this type of thing, frankly.
And also, Jim had the Sigil for a qhile, before he sold it and bought a more ornate version of the same knife, which he still has on him frequently. I fail to see how that suddenly means he faked the review.
AND Jim mentioned in the review that Tony failed to put loctite on the first batch of Sigils that came out of that show. I don't remember if it was mentioned in the first Sigil video, but it certainly was mentioned in the second one on his more ornate model if not.
I am not saying that Jim is perfectly free from guilt here, but I am saying that in this particular instance, there is nothing that leads me to believe that he is being deceitful, or that he took some form of bribe for a better review, and simply believing it to be true because enough people tell you is a terrible mentality.
Next, you're probably going to start telling me how the world is only 5,000 years old, and people used to live with dinosaurs, or how the bones were put in the ground either magically or by some government conspiracy...the internet is not always a good place to learn my friend...
