Most versatile/well-rounded knife you have

Most versatile would a SA, I have a Alox Pioneer I used a lot in the summer when we camped, or glamped. I do want to get a Pioneer X with the scissors, or a Farmer.

I love the look of the new all black Spartan SAK, with that lovely black chrome finish. I was very tempted to get one. You can always tell a glamper by his Alox scales, campers always have red ones.

I would pick the Spirit or the Workchamp as the most versatile MT, except I almost never carry them, they are just too big and heavy. The Spirit lives in my backpack and the Workchamp on my desk.

Instead, I carry a SwissCard Lite (pen, toothpick, tweezers, scissors, magnifying glass, small knife, led light and one of those small metal squares with a different screw driver in each corner. I think it's called Quattro?). It's not as versatile as the big ones, no, but I always have it on me and that's what matters.

A SwissCard paired with a Chaparral or a Native 5 is my urban/gent's EDC.

I have the silver Alox, I would think Alox would be more durable than the red plastic handles. I am more "meh" when it comes to the many colors of Alox scales, the silver is classic to me. Much like the cast aluminum handles in theatre made knives of WWII. You know, utilitarian. Yup, glamping, have the radio going, at least no big screen TV tucked in a hatch, and with a shower in the camper, a concrete slab and a pull through!! I have a truck and travel trailer, not a big bus with all the modern gadgets and its own laundry.

So is this thread about the most versatile multitool or knife?

I am a bit confused about the OP’s topic.

Kershaw buck commander for me. Before I got laid off, I needed a cheap fixed blade because I would destroy a folder or an edge on any knife in a single day, cutting through thick plastic pipes full of dirt, rocks, cement etc... but before that my go-to edc was usually a 0566 or 0770 since it mostly just required cutting a lot of cardboard and zip ties, nothing that would wreck the blade in a single day.

Multitools have been included, so now all knives without a screw driver, toothpick, pliers, spanner, torx driver and USB stick have been deemed obsolete caveman tools.

(Victorinox actually have a SAK that has a USB stick, 16 GB i believe)

Probably the Mora Robust Pro in carbon steel (i.e., not stainless). I'm happy to say I just gave away my only one to my 20-year-old nephew, who needs a good fixed blade that will never break and is easy to sharpen. He wore it happily on his hip as he drove away this morning.

I'm not sure what my next choice would be. Hmm. Maybe . . .

Malanika puukko by Daniel Haramina (@malanika). It is a terrific knife that does everything I need a sheath knife to do.

My choice of a LOT of fixed and folders is the Spyderco Slysz Bowie.
I know it's hard to find, but this is a great knife...

Probably a Buck 055. I have carried that knife at least 9 or 10 years. Super small. Gets razor sharp with ease. My only dislike is the 420hc is very “soft” feeling and needs frequent sharpening.
