Multi-Color Becker Handle Kit Now Available

This is a very interesting development. But I think I'm going to wait and see what other colors are coming down the pipe. If there's orange then I'll jump right on it for my BK3.

I'm glad kabar listens to their fans, but all these bright colors just turns me away from them.

I can see a market for them. I can't see myself using them, but for some they could be enticing. They'd be great for a kid's knife, those that don't want the subdued look. Again, I doubt this is the only color options for these handles we'll ever see.

Not crazy about the colors, but it's still a step in the right direction. I think one thing that would help, is to see them separately, instead of all together, like so:

Great that Kabar is offering different scales for the becker line, but I honestly feel like those colors are a bad April fools joke - in January. It really makes no sense, lol.

I'd like to see a whole range considering the popularity of the line. I won't say they are my favourite colours either, but more choice is a good thing. I'd personally appreciate, timber, textured, camouflage and art type handles.

I saw this thread and my heart jumped!

And then I opened it and it sank... Only because I thought the consensus amongst ourselves seemed to be taken to heart, but it seemed too good to be true.

I will still buy a set due to liking the blue, green and pink for the misses, but I would have bought multiple if they were the suggested colors that this thread seems to be in agreement about: tan, OD, Hunter/Blaze orange...

One would think the initial roll out would have been geared towards hunters and outdoorsy types, with neutral tones and a hunter orange. If for no other reason but to eat up the startup cost, then play around with "sprint runs" of red, white and blue, toxic green, glow in the dark, anything...

Weird color choices IMHO.

I love the idea of kabar thinking about the users, but i would like to see several changes, then I would be eagerly buying them.

1) Allow the purchase of individual scales, $10 would be fair retail, glass filled nylon isn't that expensive to mold
2). orange, coyote & olive drab as choices, oh yeah.

Another dream would be to have a slightly rougher texture on them. I grit blasted mine and they are much better, slightly rougher than a grit blast would be ideal.

I would buy a set of red if they would sell them separately. Like I said, I don't want three sets including a set of hot pink lying around the house when I'll only use the red.

I'm all over the pink scales!
I can only hope Dex puts together a set.
Pink lanyards.......pink scales. That's right!

This is great news!

My wife was looking over my shoulder and said "Those look nice! How much are they?"
Me "$40 for all 4"
Her "Wow - that's a good price! Do you want them?"
Me "Well, I already have micarta for my 2 big Beckers"
Her "Becker sells different knives than you already have...right?"
Me "Why yes, yes they do!"

I love my wife! :D

I'm on board with KA-BAR here in the sense that they are finally.....finally......giving us options. The possibilities with theses handles as far as colors, is endless. I agree the more subdued/outdoors colors might have been better as an initial offering. Having said that, I may never purchase this set. The colors are just boring and dare I say, half-assed. And, if I bought my wife some pink handles for her 5, she'd forever call the knife the "Pepto."

Now, considering that I took my 9 and added KA-BAR Micarta, and it's pants'ed in a 100 dollar sheath I would not be hesitant to get some colored KA=BAR Micarta. I think they could create colored micarta and do us ALL a solid.

As somebody who want's a high vis handle but is very color blind and can't pick orange/red/yellow out of a green background the blue scales are a godsend. I have a BK-10 in my BOB that has a florescent high vis lanyard but bright scales would kick it up a notch

Thanks KA-BAR! But I'd still love some OD...

Pepto!
Haha Tom. You know I'm gonna steal that. :D

Kinda diggin these! The red and green are my favorites. I like the bright colors as it helps you locate your stuff in the woods. Plus they are "friendly" colors for when you are around non knife folks. Since KaBar is now offering the handles, I sure hope they offer more choices in the future. Would love to see an orange myself or even a yellow. Of course an OD Green would be sweet too. Probably gonna order a set soon as I get some extra $$$!

Damn that's so full of win right there.

natural colors not typically found in [my area of north american woods: blue and pink

or at least not in quantity such that if you drop the knife you can't find it tarp-blue is visible from the air.

lots of other colors, esp brown, black, orange, and red, green, and even zombie green just vanish when you set them down.

so shuddup and take my money

I'm probably gonna get flamed for this, but I just read through 3 pages what I consider mainly whining and crying about spilled milk.

First, people wanted options. So, Kabar comes out with some options. (Remember, the wheels of corporations change turn slowly.)
People complain that they don't like the colors.
People complain that they are not the color they want.
People complain that they'd rather have the colors in some other material.
People complain that the colors will make their knives look like toys.
People don't want to have to buy all 4 sets.

The only complaint I believe has validity is the inability to purchase just a single set. The only color I would like to ADD would be a bright orange, simply because it is more in line with hunter safety.

Putting a bright handle on a 1+ pound of steel with a sharp edge and a sharp point does not makes it a toy by any stretch of the imagination.

RELATIVELY, very few people carry the big Beckers in an urban environment where they'd stand out like a sore thumb. I'll buy these before "wasting" money on either an olive or forest green. To me, black is just as good as either olive or forest green at "hiding" the knife in the woods. The bright colors will do just what they are expected to do - give people the ability to locate a knife more easily when it is misplaced "in the wild" somehow - falls out of a sheath, is laid down, slips off a log, etc.
