I'm probably gonna get flamed for this, but I just read through 3 pages what I consider mainly whining and crying about spilled milk.
First, people wanted options. So, Kabar comes out with some options. (Remember, the wheels of corporations change turn slowly.)
People complain that they don't like the colors.
People complain that they are not the color they want.
People complain that they'd rather have the colors in some other material.
People complain that the colors will make their knives look like toys.
People don't want to have to buy all 4 sets.
The only complaint I believe has validity is the inability to purchase just a single set. The only color I would like to ADD would be a bright orange, simply because it is more in line with hunter safety.
Putting a bright handle on a 1+ pound of steel with a sharp edge and a sharp point does not makes it a toy by any stretch of the imagination.
RELATIVELY, very few people carry the big Beckers in an urban environment where they'd stand out like a sore thumb. I'll buy these before "wasting" money on either an olive or forest green. To me, black is just as good as either olive or forest green at "hiding" the knife in the woods. The bright colors will do just what they are expected to do - give people the ability to locate a knife more easily when it is misplaced "in the wild" somehow - falls out of a sheath, is laid down, slips off a log, etc.
Exactly what I mean. "I'm going out to have fun with my knife, I need to look like I'm a Navy SEAL and have tactical colors!"
