Multi-Color Becker Handle Kit Now Available

The more I think about it, the more I think it's a genius marketing move. The colors are clearly different from your normal bushcraft/tactical crowd, and different sells.
I liked Dubz's post where he split them up. With the colors side-by-side, I was a bit taken aback at first, but when you look at them individually, you start thinking, "Hmmm, that blue is pretty nice."

Pink BK-9 will be a reality. I will name it Betty. Or maybe Steve. Like Murph said, Steve gets things done.

Perpendicular to each other

Also some of them green and some transparent

Also some on the shape of a kitten

Actually, I was thinking I would like to have a BK3.....and 9...and 2.
I agree with you on the reaction to the colors. Like I was saying in another post, I think people were a little surprised by the color choice, but that the colors would grow on them.

Maurice?

I actually like these. They are brilliant enough that I can set my knife down when out and not lose it. The pink will stand out, the blue will stand out, the red will stand out. The green wouldn't in grassy areas but it will still be enough to not lose it. I am going to get the whole set, and use it. I don't mind the color choice at all. The pink is going on my 5, the blue on my 9, the green on my 10, and the red on my 7.

I do agree that this will open up a whole new market for the Becker line. Also agree the pink is cool choice for all the ladies out there.

Might be the sleeper color indeed...........lol

The blue is my favorite and the green may be kinda cool. I will need to get them in hand to see the exact color and make my final decision. haha

And I do believe that if these were lightly sanded or Bead blasted that it would nock the brightness and shock factor down to a cool dull color.

Hell, I may even swap these out on new knives for customers who don't want black. Then I can sell the black scales as stand alone sets.

And I can't tell from the pic in my 2015 catalog, but it looks like there might be 2 different color greens being produced? It may just be the editing they used though but it is two different colors in the pictures for sure. One is just a touch lighter in the pics. Guess we will all know soon enough. Only one is in the set, the other, well....... I can't talk about it just yet. haha.

But yea......... Blue is gonna rock, especially if blasted down a little!

I think yesterday we were all kinda blown away that none of these colors were the one's we all collectively agreed upon a month or two ago in the other thread. haha.

So yea, I'm gonna try em' and buy em' and hope they sell well enough so next year we can get the Outdoorsman edition!

We will know very soon what these bad boys are really like!

I just ordered 5 sets from Ka-bar. :D

And they said it would be ok for me to sell them individually, so that is a huge plus.

I think there are some people here with no conviction. Flipping their answer once the boss chimed in.

I agreed KA-KAR did their customer base well just providing the options. I think better colors could have been chosen as an initial release to get me to like them better. I also mentioned I would have preferred colored micarta instead, because KA-BAR's micarta is just frigging AWESOME. That being said, I would not buy these as a set, and certainly not pink. I just think they could have come out with some "cooler" colors is all. Pink? Well, we all know, pink is now a political color (Cancer groups being a pretty strong lobby in communities and in government) so I understand why pink was included. It was not for the females. The two females in my clan love the black handles. Including pink in the mix was really for all you males with.....wait for it........no conviction.

I can see it now. All you knuckelheads (loving said of course) sporting the pink during Breast Cancer awareness month. Which is what they were really made for....;)

Still loving KA-BAR.

Pretty ugly colours - I'll stick with black. I agree with comment that you should be able to purchase just one pair, and at least sell a replacement black! Selling in a kit with such kid awful colours is bad market research. But no petitions needed, just everyone talk with your feet and walk away. When KaBar see they sell very poor and make a bad loss, someone gets fired and then they question why - then perhaps the real(istic) colours start to emerge! Not to my taste but orange seems mentioned many times, but I thought neon green (a la zombie apocalypse) is all the rage at the moment, not Crayola Green? Perhaps boring, but what about usual khaki? Or how about multicolour or patterned monochrome like the many textured/striped/patterned patinas many do???

patterns usually have to be machined from a solid block. I suspect these are cast from liquid into a mold. You might get multi-colored sludge at best. Sewage handles? doubt they'd sell, but who knows! Friend tried to dye his hair plaid once. Same result. At the final price point per pair, I would be VERY happy with just a few of the right *solid* colors.

Man Ka-bar doesn't work that way, I would have to buy the whole set. But I do think I could sell them pretty easy if I break the sets up. As soon as I get some it I will let you know and sell you a blue set by itself.

Don't forget to set aside some Blue scales when they come in. Thanks

That may be the reason some people changed their minds, but I think some people realized they might like the colors once they saw them in person. Or the colors just "grew" on them. One person said, before any comment by Mr. B, "I'm over the initial Easter colors shock".
Anyway, it's knife scales. Does it really matter?

Dex, I'll take a Red set and then see if I can dye it a nice dark ORANGE.
I don't think a hard plastic/resin like grivory will take dye well and you would have go to a darker color not lighter.

Ok. I've given this some thought. I'm not in love with the new colors but will probably buy them anyway. I think it's important to support Kabar 's decision to try something new in the hope that it will encourage them to continue to grow. I know my wife and daughter will be excited about the pink but would LOVE a set of tweener scales in purple. So I'm hoping that we get to see more color options for full size and tweener scales.
