My knife is gone?!?!

Have your parents ever asked you not to leave the knife unsheathed on the floor....or told you to keep it somewhere safe and away from curious hands?
It was actually the opposite, my mom wanted me to keep it always at the same spot so we know where it is. She also knows where I keep my other knives. And it was her suggestion for me to keep one of my knives on place that's easily available.
And it's a drawer under my desk. It wasn't simply on the floor.
So the question is, could it have gotten collected in with some other stuff? Could it be in a box? Could it have fallen and ended up in a weird spot? For instance, could it have fallen behind a radiator or into a boot?
No radiators, and pretty much nothing is around my desk. I even went through my wardrobe, moved the furniture, I turned everything upside down but sadly I didn't find it. It's not a small knife. Recon Tanto is rather large fixed blade...

Just a thought. If you have been exchanging gifts then the knife may have been borrowed to open something and then picked up and binned with the wrap paper, cardboard and other trash.

Well... I'm gonna go through trash too now...

The only time I lost a knife was my original Seki City Spyderco Kiwi SS because it had no clip and slipped out of my pocket somewhere one day when I was out visiting people and running errands. It was small, slick, and heavy, so it had to have slid out of my pocket when I was standing and sitting different places that day and I didn't notice. Sucked because it was long discontinued and couldn't be replaced.

My ex wife stole two knives from me after I left her. It was fine at first because I think she thought I was going to come back to her again, but once she found out I have moved on and started dating another woman, she broke and stole a lot of my belongings that were still at our old place. This included a discontinued and basically irreplaceable Spyderco K2, and a Spyderco Chaparral.

It's a bummer. Hopefully your Recon turns up, especially since the future of CS is lookin pretty bleak. All of their older quality stuff is going to be hard to find and expensive within the next few years by my guess.

Yeah, now I feel really lucky I recently bought another SK5 Recon Tanto.

good chance it will turn up or your mind will click on the answer. I usually don't loose or misplace items, but in the last couple weeks it has happened twice. It drives me nuts, but in both cases the answer finally came to me. Hope you are as lucky.

Ya people. There was a forum member years back that I got to know casually, mainly in the outdoor forums . He was fairly close by in Alberta. We where going to exchange a few knives by mail to try them out. I sent a couple, one was a Johnston Pot belly, or whatever it was called, and something else. Nothing showed up on my end after some vague replies. So I remembered his job description and I actually hunted him down at his employer. My last contact with him years ago, was that he was sending a hatchet as replacement. Of course the miserable pr... never sent a thing, and he quit coming here.

So, last time I seen my knife was the morning of December 24, and I noticed it's missing 2 days later at evening (basically night) of December 26.

I will ask my family to try to remember who was exactly here in those 2-3 days and if they saw someone walking around the house or going into my room.

I just got really pissed off, because some asshole will come into your house and steal your shit for Christmas...
I really want to get my knife back.

I even went through trash this morning (yes I was digging through trash at 6 in the morning) but it's not here...

It's 30cm (or almost 12 inches) long and quite thick and the sheath is gone too. Someone had to do it. If it was a folder or small fixed blade I would assume it's just lost somewhere and I can't find it. This thing is not really tiny so it's apsurd...

You need to find a way past it, you can’t let it fester in your heart.

As corny as it sounds. Someone needed it worse than you did, wish them good luck with it and move on.

They’ll get theirs in the end. Karma is brutal!

The last person that burned me real bad that I forgave. Got sick, and had pancreatic cancer. That guy died a slow miserable death and is rotting in hell now.

If the knife was under the table and separate from the sheath, it does seem odd that the sheath would disappear as well.
It was also in a drawer... it couldn't just drop out.
And yes, both the knife and the sheath are gone.
The knife was next to the sheath, not in the sheath.

True, I'll let it go. It's gone now and there is nothing I can do about it. I can just hope that the person who stole it had a reason for doing so.

And yes, karma is brutal. I know.
how about “A stolen knife will always cut you when you least expect it.”

I really like that one.
We really should start something like that :D

UPDATE!!!

My sister accidentally found it scrolling on instagram!

Teenage daugter of my mom's friend has just posted an Instagram story of herself licking my Recon Tanto!

It has to be that same knife. The coating is worn out exactly the same way like on mine. It can't be a coincidence...

I sent her a text, I wonder what will she have to say about this.

How old is this girl ? I'd capture that photo in case she deletes it.

15/16 I think...

And don't worry, my sister already took screenshots.

Man, I can't wait for her to see my message.
I just said something like "Nice knife. I wonder where did you get it?"
I wish I could see her reaction too when she reads it...
