My knife is gone?!?!

It was also in a drawer... it couldn't just drop out.
And yes, both the knife and the sheath are gone.
The knife was next to the sheath, not in the sheath.

One does not rummage through someone else's drawer by accident, and I highly doubt she was looking for a knife; it just happened to catch her eye like a shiny to a crow. She is a thief.:thumbsdown:

Have a closer look around, OP, and make sure nothing else is missing...

UPDATE!!!

My sister accidentally found it scrolling on instagram!

Teenage daugter of my mom's friend has just posted an Instagram story of herself licking my Recon Tanto!

It has to be that same knife. The coating is worn out exactly the same way like on mine. It can't be a coincidence...

I sent her a text, I wonder what will she have to say about this.
What’s with teenage girls always posting videos of themselves licking stuff???

Also, it’s good your coworker will be with you when you meet her, having an underage girl show up to your work after your shift to meet with you alone will raise way too many unsettling questions.

That’s a good idea. Easily could’ve taken anything else.

Is that a common thing? :O

I’m just gonna toss out some unsolicited advice. Do not spend any time alone with this young girl.

Maybe it’s just me, but the “licking” thing, along with the fact that she had to rummage through your personal belongings to stumble upon the knife....has a very awkward and extremely uncomfortable sexual component to it. Plus, she had to know you might see it via social media.

Again, I may be way off base....but I would make sure all interaction is chaperoned/witnessed and maybe let your folks know what’s going on. This whole thing reeks of the first half-hour of a bad TV crime-drama in which a 20-something guy suddenly finds himself either being stalked by an underage girl.....or getting picked up by the police for a crime he didn’t commit.

Bizarre story on so many levels. Just keep as much distance as possible...and have plenty of witnesses.

You shouldn’t have left a knife unsheathed in a common area of your house. Especially with company coming over. Someone probably took it or hid it to teach you a lesson.

I hope your dog has a warm doghouse. It has been lately.

Wow! It turned out to be creepy teen might have a crush kind of thing.

I am happy for you, you solved the mystery of missing knife , buy her something to reinforce a good did of returning it to rightful owner and ease her discomfort and embarrassment. (Tell her the curse of bad luck for stealing tools ;):D)

I just got a call from her dad.
She has told about it to her parents as I told her she should. I told her they'd find out sooner or later (my sister knows and she is usually spreading everything quickly).

Her father was very humble, he apologized in her name and even offered to buy me something as apology.
I told him it's all good.

Also, she has shown them the messages where I asked her where did she get the knife and where she apologized.

She never admitted stealing the knife tho, she has told them she found it somewhere, so her father was very curious to know if she stole it or really found it somewhere while she was in a walk and decided to keep it...

And I kinda feel guilty I told him that I don't know for sure. Last time I recall seeing the knife was several days ago and it took me a while to notice it's missing, so theoretically anything is possible. But she has offered to return the knife and even wants to make stuff right so that is a good thing. She also told about it to them on her own so I'll give her the benefit of the doubt.

He said he'll let her apologize in person like she wanted. So I guess that's it...

A lot of good advice on this thread but I can’t help to think that this whole thing is fabricated and the op is having fun with all of you. That or the op is really younger than they claim. A lot here doesn’t add up.

Seriously, who cares if he made up the whole thing or not? It’s a plausible scenario, and it gets people thinking about where they store their knives in their homes and what they should do to prevent any possible future theft.

I believe him.

Actually, I very recently had something very similar happen to me.
My sister in law's boyfriend stole several things out of my truck's toolbox. One item was sentimental to me, a simple Husqvarna axe. I confronted him about it, and of course he denied it. But, roughly a week later, he sends me a text and says he has my stuff.
He gave me a crackhead story about how he found my stuff in someone else's posession.

I kept the peace. I was just ecstatic to get my axe back.

op remember this locks only keep honest people honest. you'd be amazed how much theft goes on. people steal stuff from my office when I'm out in the field, if I leave my door unlocked. tools, pens, paper tablets, drinks from my fridge, my lunch,, personal items. you name it. not cause they are poor either and need it. I've learned to always lock my door and not leave things easily seen through the door window.

also remember kids are easily tempted. they arent always bad kids. hopefully she learned her lesson and glad ya got your knife back.

many years ago...when my boy was able to walk a toddler or so. he had a habit of throwing things in the trash. so anything he could grab like keys, drink coasters or whatever he's toss in the nearest trash can. I had to comb through all the trash before taking out. talk about fun. learned to put everything up very high, that worked until he could climb. luckily he grew out of that stage.

This is how I feel about my Recon Tanto.

I moved every piece of the furniture in my room, checked all my jackets and wardrobe, I even went through our trash at 6 in the morning today... that doesn't matter because my knife was gone and now it's coming back and I'm thrilled because of it.
