My new contest.....

Here I am, the other day:
weight is around 175#, flexing my abdominals

(tattoos were airbrushed at a fair, they won't be making an appearance in update photos)

I have found the perfect combination of physical fitness to enable me to enjoy all the things I want to do, and a sedentary vegetative state and consumption of beer and wings.

This has provided me the perect quality of life that would allow me to die at any moment knowing I did everything I wanted to do and nothing that I didn't have to do.

In other words, I could probably extend my life by becoming more physically fit, but I would lose all that time excercising instead of doing something else I actually WANTED to do.

Man you've chosen a tough contest eh, I'm kinda happy with how I am for my age but I'd love a Gunny so this is tempting, lol !!!!
Just incase I get a rush of blood and decide to go for it this is a pic of me from a couple of weeks ago weighing 198lbs !

Edited to keep it outdoorsy !!!!

I'm in! I'm 5'10 and 235 as of today (just weighed myself). I was in the army for eight years. My diet sucked but I ran 9 miles four days a week for PT and never gained any weight. I stayed at 185-190 the whole time. Then I had some bad timing. Within one month of my contract ending and civilian life beginning I got a tick double whammy. I got Rocky Mtn Spotted Fever and Lyme disease from the same damn tick. I was in the hospital for almost three months and in bed for a full year and was in treatment for a total of three years. I went from a VERY active military life to a year in bed without changing my diet. I gained 50 pounds that year. Now I work in the field every day (Biologist) and am doing better but haven't lost the weight. I have tried to avoid pictures that show what kind of shape I'm in for the past couple years but I guess it's time to deal with it. I'll get a pic later and post it.
Anyway, I'm in.

This is perfect timing, as I have been meaning to get back in shape and start eating better, but I just can't seem to get motivated. I think you just solved that for me, thanks.

I've let myself slip since my knees started bothering me earlier this year, and eat out way to much. I'll get a photo up later.

this is a really great idea and I'm in! although I'm young (20) and not overweight at all (140lbs 5'10"). I'm pretty out of shape, eat horribly, and don't have much musclemass. I've really been wanting to gain muscle and get in better shape but have had trouble keeping motivation and time

Hell, I'm in. Great contest. Always nice to tackle this sort of thing with a group.

I'm in fine shape, weight-wise, and my diet is great. But I would like to take the opportunity to work on my cardio. I'll weigh in some time soon (I don't own a scale), and get back into regular jogging.

All the best,

- Mike

I'll play. I'm 60ish pounds down from my heaviest already, but I have a long ways to go. Mostly in the area of packing on some muscle. I've been meaning to get a new "after" picture anyway. Stay tuned.

I'm in...I've kind of been on leave for the last couple weeks so I've only been lifting 12 ouncers:D

I will hit the big "40" on January 1st, but I'm planning a good Afghanistan workout...I'll ship out the end of July and should be back in November (fingers crossed). My location has a brand new gym and some good running routes...once I get into a routine with the work out and diet with few distractors (other than work), I'll make some good progress. I need to weigh myself next week and post...

I'm up for it!

Great Jimi!!

The thing about vegitarian diets is the carbs. While most veggies are catabolic(meaning they use more calories to digest then thats in the food), its the breads and pastas. Stay with whole grain foods, orgainic foods, sweet potatoes instead of regular, etc...

Also protien is the building blocks of great health. Without meat, you might think of a protien powder supplement, and egg whites, skim milk to get some protien so you trigger your body to burn fat instead of muscle, not both. The thing is, bigger muscles incinerate calories, even while you are at rest, so I believe training the largest muscle groups is the key to jumpstarting fat loss.

I'm pretty interested in fitness.. It used to be a big part of my life.. at one time.. since the kids though..I don't pursue it as feverently as I should.. I work out 3-4 times a week.. I do a mix of plyometrics, callesthenics, and olympic Powerlifts.. I;d like to start running again but I;m lazy.. In addition I practice martial arts a few time a week.. although more often now I;m teaching rather than participating.. However.. I eat like a paramedic... whcih means cheese, icecream.burgers.. wings shakes.. coffee.. yada yada.. I'd like to tone up some.. I'll participate, but not for the Gunny just for the fun of it...
I have devised a 2 new workout routines which have given me good rseults over the past few weeks.. If anyone is interested I'd be happy to share them.

I'm in. I have been involved in martial arts for 28 years, recently my instructor closed his school and I am on the hunt for a new one (might start taking boxing). I have to buy a new bicycle since my old one is 19 years old and a bit beat up-lots of miles on it.

I'm not overweight but would like to lose 20 and tone up. I am 195, 5'9" right now.

John, send me the routines bro! Love to see them. I am tired of the ones I have developed, need some new ideas.

Always interested bro! Share!

I totally feel ya on the paramedic diet. I gained 90lbs my first 3 years on the trucks. Ive taken off 50 of it. Its hard to do at work, but I pack a cooler with water and fruits etc to keep in the bus....Every little bit helps.

This is a great thread. Count me in as I totally agree with the opening post.

I accumulated enough food to survive for maybe a few weeks around my waist these few months :D
Which reduced my physical performance quite radically.
Today, I run to my office from the nearest station and I'm almost exhausted to death. Oh dear. :(
If this thing goes unchanged, I'll lose an opportunity to use my precious food around my waist.

171cm/60kg(132lbs) is my current status. Maybe looks skinny enough
to some of the members living here but this is too much for me actually.
5kg (11lbs) of excess weight must be reduced to zero and transformed into physical performance.

I'll edit with photos later- EDITED WITH PHOTO

38 years old, 39 this fall. Major Modern toxicity issues and some lung damage from way back when I got my Tshirt. 5' 11"- measured at 228 today, for comparison my lean weightlifting ideal is about 185. Maybe 200 if I'm really lifting hard.

we gonna have updates to keep each other pumped?

warning! Danger! Attention! Merde!

Classic dieters' Before photo- no flexing, lettin it all hang out, not even holding a 6 pound sledge at the forge to look buff.
