The only thing that could make that more awesome... is if she could hold my Bk2 with her other hand....

Went shooting today. Was gonna go out by myself and get some guns sighted in and try out some of my newer stuff as well as the Sig p220 I just got back together. At the last minuet my friend Alice asked if I could give her a ride somewhere real quick. She had her 9yo daughter with her and after their errand was done they asked to tag along with me to the range. Didn't get to shoot as much as I was hoping to or see how the guns were grouping but I'd never turn down the chance to introduce new people to shooting so I'll just go back next week.

I must have put the disconnector in backwards or something because it was getting in the way of the magazine when I tried to load it and the mag wouldn't seat. Gotta take that thing back apart and try it again.

So, just finished the drive from Springfield to St. Louis. It isn't a horrible drive, about 120 miles (door to door) ((200km ish for our Canadian brethren) today however there was an ice storm that passed through, and then snow, and stupid people. Normally it takes me an hour forty five to make the drive. Today it took two hours and a half.

TBL, however she seems a little old to be just starting out on beer.

I could care less about the ice or snow, slipping or sliding, but the stupid people..... They are the worst.

That is the part that gets me too! I can handle my car in the conditions. That isn't a problem. New brakes, new tires, so the car is good. The variable is the people on the road. They suck!

First of all, we're glad you made it home without an incident - driving in those conditions can be epic.

Secondly, really appreciate the your km conversion. It speaks volumes about how accommodating and accepting folks are on this forum.

Have we mentioned how much we like this community? LOL!

Gus, I can't do km in my head for shit, but I do have an iPhone and am always willing to look up the conversion from miles. :p
BTW, try explaining to a nine-year-old sometime why we don't use the metric system in the US.

I Google Imaged "creepy uncle," and here's what came up as the #1 hit.

It's funny (to me) cause I'm a petrol-head. I like knives, I LOVE cars! So I watch a lot of car shows (Top Gear, Fifth gear, etc) and they are usually using the metric system for measuring speed. So I've spent a lot of time doing conversions from MPH to KmPH. It's to the point it's just inherent now.

I was driving from Chicago to Toronto for a funeral several years ago. I got into Windsor and the speed limit signs started popping up. However they were posted in Km/H without SAYING Km/h. So from Windsor to Toronto I was doing 100-110 mph (150-175km/h) only got pulled over once and pulled the quintessenial "Sorry sir, I'm this redneck hick from 'Merica!" and got off with NOTHING, he just sat there explaining that in Canada they use Km/h and that it's about 60mph so if I just stay at there I'll be fine.

Hah. That only works on our side of the boarder. I got pulled over doing 60mph in a 55mph zone in New York. The officer was about to write me a ticket when my (now) father in-law got out of the vehicle walked over to the cop car and came back and handed me license and insurance back and said "lets go". He used to be an RCMP and just flashed his badge and code blue he let us go. But I was going to get a ticket for 5 over...

Edit: However... my wife just reminded me of our trips to her parents house in Florida. We went from our house here in Milton to her parents place in Melbourn Beach Florida in 17.5 hours driving between 90-110mph the entire way. It was also during the night of the time change... so technically we did it in 16.5hours :) 2357km's.

There's a picture of me like this in a slide carosel somewhere.
The second picture is my puckered look of disgust as I try to escape the beer bottle.

Metric is terribly sensible.
But so is successive division by two, especially when humans are involved. Way better when you lack arbitrarily precise tools.

I figure the US will never convert to metric because kilometers are just so damn weak.
Personally, I prefer Nautical Miles :D 1800km per nm. Now THAT's a mile! And it accounts for the curvature of the earth...

LOL! Canadians tend to be very polite!

I'm thinking of going all Draconian and turning Becker into the BFC equivalent of the BCUSA "Cooking & Water Purification" subforum.
I'll just start locking anything related to knives, and the only acceptable thread topics will be stoves, cooksets, or cooking.
On a conciliatory note, the Cast Iron thread would stay unlocked. :p :D
