I'm so sorry. Addiction is so powerful, so hard to break, mind and body gets to that certain way of feeling/thinking and for many, they'd give their life to feel that way one more time. Personally still circling around that.

You did all you could. People choose their paths, sure he loved you all, maybe just couldn't love himself.

My Sincere Condolences.

I remember when I thought 35 was old...now I consider it way too young for passing on...may he rest in peace

I'm very sorry for your loss.

Incredibly sad. I'm sorry for your loss. I walked away from the sauce at 28 years old. I hate to see what alcohol does to some lives. I hope you both find peace.

Hoping that even this small note can ease your thoughts, I am wishing you strength and support from across the miles. Yes, the tears can surprise you especially speaking of your loss out loud with others. My sincere condolences to you, and to all family and friends of your beloved son.

Terrible, terrible news... I am so sorry for your loss.

I lost a good close friend to an overdose many years ago. He just did not want to give up the drugs.
I pray you find peace with this in time. Always remember, no matter how much you want to, you cannot save an addict that doesn't want to be saved.

This so sucks. So very sorry for the loss to the world. Hope you can just remember all the ggod times. Hugs

Thanks yet again for the outpouring of sentiments. Today has been a whirlwind. Dealing with his roommate who will not allow family to collect his belongings. When we pushed to have access with the landlord, the roommate got wind of it and threatened to burn all of it backed with a hearty FU, "you'll never get it now." It's just clothes and a laptop for crying out loud.

Aren't some people such wonderful humans?

So sorry for your loss.

Check with the local PD (or the Sheriff's Office, if it's a rural house) for an escort while retrieving your son's things. It's amazing how cooperative folks get when you show up with the LEOs.

Parents should not outlive their children. Smoke and prayers up for you and yours from the NW.

Oh and there's a special place in hell for vultures and scavengers like his roommate. Don't care much for vultures circling when someone pass's.

Very tough to lose a child. Alcoholism is a terrible disease. Watching your child succumb to it had to be awful. Sincere condolences.
