I've received folders in padded envelopes from trusted dealers many times.
Never had a problem......no fixed blades though.

Yes, and my post office recommends them, and the Tyvek envelopes as well. If you bubble wrap the sheathed knives and place them in a padded USPS envelope you're fine, and they insure it. I suppose I've been lucky sending, and receiving knives this way.

Yes you have it's very easy to tear open any envelope put your blades in a box any other way is just asking for trouble. Who cares what the PO recommends.

Have it your way. I'm finished trying to dignify a response to such a, obvious no brainer.

This type of rationale, is a perfect example why, BladeForums, enabled this site with an ignore list.

BTW- did your post office tell you to wrap your knives with single ply, or double ply, toilet paper? ;)

Right back at you...

Flat rate small l box and flat rate envelopes should both cost the same $5.80 or so to ship. I always use the box and tape all edges so any in transit theft is evident.

The bubble padded flat rate envelopes are extremely difficult to rip or tear, and the Tyvek is even more difficult. A knife properly wrapped in bubble wrap (as long as in a sheath) and placed in one of these is a none issue. I have had knives shipped from the Netherlands, and Finland this way with no issues.

As always, there are two sides to every story. Now we have heard form the buyer.
Were there two pkgs or just one? Did the buyer receive the pkg with the same tracking number? or a diff one?

Not sure how a pkg can show delivered to the seller and another delivered to the buyer?

Argue all you want, but there's just no advantage to using an envelope (padded or otherwise) meant for flat things. So why would you when a taped box is better, and can more easily hide the contents?

JUST SEEMS THE BETTER OPTION...

The delivers to the sender happens sometimes. Just had it happen to me. Post office scanned a package being mailed, hit the wrong key and instead of accepted they hit delivered. Package continued on as usual showing tracking the rest of the way as it should.

And in the case of flat rate boxes, they're free.

Shipping 2 Strider fixed blades, in any type of envelope is absolutely, absurd! For $5.80, you can use a USPS flat rate box, tape (lot's of it), & get tracking, & insurance.

Come on. Basic math shows that this is wrong. Tape isn't free and to send/insure the knives for the proper amount would cost more than $5.80. And do two Strider fixed blades fit in a small flat rate box?

There is a ton of speculation going on in this thread and not much of it is helping the OP.

The USPS also has sizes: medium, & large flat rate boxes. Let's use your math, Craytab, & add .25 cents for tape.

The cost of shipping a knife safely to it's destination, shouldn't deter the shipper from using common sense.

And yes I agree, this has gotten off track, & isn't helping the OP.

Edit: If you are a member here, whom ships their knives in an envelope, kindly put me on your never do business list.

Thank you!

When I read some of the logic that some people here ascribe to, it really makes me realize that I need to cover all of my bases, & never assume anything.

An envelope, for fixed blades, REALLY?!?!

You ship a knife like this in an envelope, & things like this can & do happen. Ask any Mod's here, how many times they've heard this same, "knife disappeared from an envelope" story?

Be smart people...trying to save a couple of bucks, isn't always the smartest thing to do...

Let us continue to use your math Kelama. Is a flat rate small box the same price as a medium or large flat rate box?

Edit: if you are a member here who can't do basic math, this is a great place to announce it so I can put you on my ignore list

Double Edit: what is the price for insurance? Is it more than $0.00? Yup. Simple math folks. Do it. It is cute to throw out inaccurate arguments to pile on but this one is so easily refuted it is a joke. A waste of time for this subforum.

Not totally. Learning proper shipping procedure may help the OP in the future. Also if the check does clear his shipping methods may play a part in the decision of refund.
I used the padded envelope method on my 1st sales. I soon learned to pack properly-sometimes it can be expensive to do it right, but it is worth it in the end.

For knives, any type of envelope is a joke, and should not be used. I stopped dealing with a well known online knife dealer, because I got tired of the boxes getting crushed in the padded envelopes. Now I buy mostly from KW, who always ships in boxes.

Have you ever stopped to wonder "why" we've never done a transaction, Craytab? I too, make prudent decisions, whom I deal with here.

BTW- you seem much more agitated, & hostile, since you've become a regular in the W&C. FWIW: you really should consider spending more of your free time in there, it suits your personality better.

Back on topic.

I won't delve into personal attacks like you have here.

I am merely pointing out the numerous inaccuracies in your posts. Don't be offended. Just post accurate information to back up your assertions.

Simple really

Regardless of what i should have used to ship, the package got there successfully and with no tears to the envelope. There was only one package and it made it to its destination now it is just the senders word against mine that i put in both knives and sheaths and tech lok vs him saying i only put in one sheath. I hate stealing, and the last thing i want on this forum i love is to screw someone over. I dont want to send back a refund before a check even clears to someone that very well could have my knives.
