Almost always carry both an itty bitty sak and a one hand opening 3" or so. I have insisted on carrying a single hand opening knife with locking blade (unless i have a fixed blade on me) ever since reading some stories like the one about the lifeboat on the titanic dangling from the stuck line, everyone hanging on, and the auto knife being the only safe way to take care of it. No, I do not have any autos now, just stick with the holey and buttoned blades. So many times I have had the item needing cutting in one hand, and without a one-hander it would either need to be redone or escape..
Boxes, packages, wire insulation, gardening, topiary, carving packing foam to fit, fixing whatever can be fixed with a knife, cutting whatever needs cutting.
I have carried since cub scouts, whenever that was. In my 40's now.
