Need your help:

I’m involved in a court case. I’m sorry, I cannot give detailed information. I would like to know:

1. What size (blade length) knife do you normally carry?

2. What do you use your knife for?

3. At what age did you begin carrying a knife?

Thanx much for your help.

sal

1. 3-4 inches
2. Utility-opening boxes, letters, packages, etc. Light pruning of plants around the yard. Camping/fishing duties
3. 10 (but not at school obviously)

1. 3 inch and under/smaller

2. Used to cut rope, open packages and letters, cut loose threads from clothing, etc.

3. Started carrying a pocket knife every day since my 7th birthday (got a Kamp King from my Dad!)

-3-4 inches when in town.

- Trimming my fingernails, opening mail/boxes, cutting loose strings, preparing lunch, sharpening pencils, etc.

- I was 7 years old when I got my first Cub Scout knife.

Hope it turns out well Sal.

1. Three to four inch blade

2. Open boxes, envelopes, cut string, cardboard, fruit, and anything else that needs to be reduced in size.

3. Eight years old

Blade lenght 4"
Use cut meat wrapping paper, trim bushes....general utility
started carrying at 12

3-4 Inches
Used for cutting nylon rope in lobster pot maintenance, cutting fruit, slicing cardboard for fire tinder, removing splinters, removing ticks from dog, cutting bags/packaging of all sorts, cutting plastic strapping, cleaning fish, cutting fishing line, cutting roof insulation, shaving ankles for strapping before sport, sharpening pencils, cutting articles from newspaper, digging arrows from tree stups, cutting up old clothes to make rags, cutting beading from tyre tubes - that all I can think of just now.
Carrying since I was 11.

- My Current EDCs are 3" or less (Spyder Navigator or Dodo).

- I use mine for smaller tasks like cutting Tape, taking Paper samples, cutting fabric, etc.

- Started carrying regularly when I was 12 - 13 years old.

Sal,

1) I stay around 3". Calypso Jr., Delica, BM mini-Griptilian, etc.

2) Typically - opening envelopes, cardboard boxes, plastic packages...essentially urban living tasks.

3) 28 :o

Hope this helps,

Matthew

For urban/work carry:
1. SAK Cybertool, 2.7" PE Blade (slip-joint)
(used for food, and dismantling computers etc.)
and
2. LM Crunch, 2.25" Serrated Blade (locking-slip-joint - two handed)
Use blade for boxes and messy jobs, pliers for fixing various things.
For outdoors:
3. SAK one-hand trailmaster, 3.7ish" PE. (one hand liner lock)
Larger blade for camp, saw is useful etc.
I would carry #3 more often, because it's more comfortable, but I typically need tools (on 1 and 2) more often.

Don't remember when I got a "cub-scout" knife. Must have been 10 or so, I promptly lost it.

1. Between two and four inches.

2. General utility, mostly. Opening feedsacks, whittling, opening packages, cutting food... You name it.

3. I got my first knife when I was six or so, and started carrying on a daily basis when I was about ten.

I use one-handed folders mostly for convenience.
The blade lengths average 4 inches.
I use them mostly for utility type chores. Pruning, packaging, rope, twine and various other mundane matter that needs seperating.
I was given my first folding knife at 6 years of age by my father.

I sincerely hope this helps.

All the best,
Mike U.

Sal, I posted this over on KF as well, so feel free to ignore one or the other. I'm SwordandShield over there as well.

1. 3.0" to 4.0", depending on local laws. I travel interstate quite frequently, so I restrict length based on local changes. 3.0" is about the minimum that will do the work I require of a knife efficiently.

2. Opening and breaking down boxes is common, as is shaving a shim to fit properly on a door, along with cleaning my nails and preparing/eating lunch. If I can't open what needs to be opened with my fingernails, my knife does the job.

3. 11, as soon as I earned the Scout Totin' Chip to do so. I have carried nearly every day since, except when prohibited by law- say, school and sporting events.

1. I usually carry two knives, a little SAK with a 2.25-2.5" blade which I carry for the tools more than anything and a BM 800 with an almost 4" blade.

2. On a day to day basis I cut the plastic packing straps they put around the cases of printer paper, plastic CalOvernight bags, packing tape, cardboard and apples. Other things I have used my knife for...CD wrappers, ivy, leather, chicken breasts, fuel line, radiator hose, carpet, pizza, bread, a can of olives, plastic bags pepperonccinis come in, loose threads, pencils, blisterpacks, etc.

3. I have carried a knife since I was ten years old. I'm 33 now.

Good luck, Sal

Frank

1.I carry a 3" benchmade clip point ascent.I would carry my 4" endura but i don't think I can for legal reasons.
2.After buying a home last year, I've used it for anything you can think of,cutting plastic sheeting, minor pruning, carving garden stakes, crafts, ect ect.
3. I was about 6 or 7 when I started carrying a knife(with dad's supervision of course)

3.5" to 4" blade used for everything eating to work, and SD, I've been carrying a pocket knife since I was 13.

Best of luck Sal. :)
