By that I mean opening packaging, breaking down boxes, cutting food, etc. I've been carrying knives of some kind since I was about six years old (not at school), and Spydercos for about three years. :)

What size (blade length) knife do you normally carry?

At the moment I carry two knives routinely--a small 1.5 inch slipjoint with nail file, screwdriver and bottle opener, and a 2.7 inch one handed opener lockblade. I sometimes add a small Sebenza, 2.9 inches.

2. What do you use your knife for?

Cutting up my lunch, opening packages, cutting string and wrapping materials, opening mail, opening bottles, "Mr Fix-it" duties around the office, and manicuring my nails and cuticles.

3. At what age did you begin carrying a knife?

I can't actually remember but I've been doing so daily for at least 35 or 40 years (I am 56).

Regards,
Greg

1: Usually carry a small fixed blade (Ansø Nasty Necker or Small Sheepsfoot; 1,5 - 2,5") and a SAK Recruit (2,5" I guess)

2: 99% utility, little thought of use for self defence

3: Around seven! Can't remember not having carried a knife somehow!
