Will do. Should get the package tomorrow.Hope you get your stuff man, oh and let me know if the stuff doesn't show up, he just offered me the benchmite.
Thanks, BRAINESTORM. Appreciate the input. You're absolutely right. Post mail is slower than Internet mail.If I may.
Been playing collecting buying selling for over 35 yrs. Its a good hobby, Some are great deals some are bad. I take the good with the bad , research the deal .If it smells I walk away. But it works ,allways got the knife ,not allways happy with the trade or every deal .Mailing is allways slower then I mail.
Good Luck Happy Hunting
Well, the package arrived.
Don't know why the Benchmade Monochrome didn't have the clip attached, or why one of the long screws was not screwed in (one of the 3 towards the butt of the handle).
Attached the clip and put back the screw. The knife is newish. Had scuffing on the handle where the missing long screw goes.
Overall, it's in fair enough condition. Had I wanted/needed an actual NIB knife, this wouldn't have sufficed, imo.
As for the CRKT Drifter that was "thrown in" to make it up to me. The surface of the blade is all chewed up. The knife is dirty, and there seems to be a screw missing from the clip. This might suffice as a beater (too ugly to give away).
The other "goodies" that were "thrown in" after the last exchange with kershaw1085 to make it further make it up to me consisted on one used/dirty SAK keychain knife with the name of some business on it.
All the stuff I had sent was brand spanking new, never used/sharpened, nothing removed. Oh well, this deal is done!
As I mentioned before, I gave my word that if I received my package I wouldn't leave negative feedback. So be it. Fortunately, with a Neutral option, I don't have to leave positive feedback, either.
For anyone who's intereseted, I would suggest if/when dealing with this trader, request pics & ask that this trader ship first, providing a tracking number before shipping out anything. Who knows, might even want to inspect what arrives first, before shipping out.
Again, this deal is done. After 8 previous terrific trades, this was the only bad one. While it could've gone better, it could've been worse. At least, now I know who I won't be dealing with (again).
Thanks, all.

Not at all....Hope you don't start thinking that the entire knife community is painted with the same brush.

You are correct, sir.I think the issue beforehand was not only did he not ship or keep in touch, but that he might not have had that fire under his butt if this thread wouldn't have been created.
unacceptable.Well that's disappointing it didn't arrive in the exact condition you wanted (as promised).
But my point, which I believe still stands, have a little faith and perhaps give things due time before posting a thread.
Maybe it wasn't the best trade, but hey you got your knife 95% more or less.
True, but I didn't want this deal to drag out another month or more, waiting for kershaw1085 to fix it or have us return each others items (I don't think he still has the stuff I sent, anyway [probably already traded it])....not as described is unacceptable around here.
unacceptable.
when your property is en route and the other party hasn't even sent theirs, it is past due time
not as described is unacceptable around here.
Bill86, I appreciate what you're trying to get across here, but the majority of Members aren't going to drink your Kool-Aid. I sure as hell won't.
This isn't about whether or not folks here are being patient enough. There are rules/guidelines in place, steps which are expected to be followed in the trading process. You want to change how all this is done? Great! Take it up with BladeForums, not us.
Most here know what the guidelines are, and that's how we want them to be. It's those very guidelines that make it easier/safer to do trades, giving folks a little more confidence to want to trade. Trading is a very old custom going back to a time when someone's word & honor still meant something.
If things were more your way, I guarantee there'd be a lot less trading. I know I sure wouldn't be trading anything here. Your way, a person could get away with ripping off a dozen trades before he/she was stopped. There'd be a ton more victims.
In my deal, we had a guy who was shirking his end of a trade, and had the audacity to continue negotiating trades, I believe, while telling me he didn't have time to complete our trade. That's jacked, no matter how you slice it.
Personally, I have a feeling the guy in question here is going to get worse. Before my trade, he'd recently already gotten a negative review. Mine was a neutral, so it may not seem like such a big deal (it is to me), but other things happend with my trade which I think are more telling, like the impression/s he gave about the condition of the items he offered for trade. In my opinion, he lied.
He said the Monochrome was new. It wasn't. He said the Drifter was like new. It's all chewed up. He promised other "goodies" (plural) to make things right. All he included was *one* small used keychain SAK. In my opinion, he was dishonest about shipping *and* the description of his stuff, so I don't think any amount of patience (more than what I had already given) would've made a difference.
I was the civil one here. There's absolutely no reason I should have to defend myself about anything regarding this trade. If anything, according to BladeForums guidelines, I was more than patient.
Again, you want to argue your views on how long we should wait for a trade? Take it up with the folks who set the guidellnes. Me, I've got absolutely no complaints with how there set up here & now.
If anything, in light of what happened to me, I think the guidelines should become more strict for some folks, like the person I just traded with being discussed here.
If someone with questionable feedback wants to participate in BladeForums trading forum, he/she should be required to automatically supply quality pics *and* ship first. If the recipient has great feedback, he/she shouldn't have to ship until the item/s are received and everything's in order.
I would even go one step further. I wish there were a few highly reputable Members who had the time to volunteer as Trade Intermediaries, where folks who want some extra piece of mind can go through to ensure a trade goes right.
Both traders send their stuff to the Intermediary. That person checks the stuff when it comes in, communicates with both parties, if everything's aces, ship the stuff off to the intended folks. Nothing would get shipped off till the Intermediary got both trades.
Of course, there'd be a little added cost for shipping and it may take a little longer. But, knowing a trustworthy person is overseeing the deal would make it all well worthwhile, especially when trading higher-end items.
Anyway, that's my take on it.
Bill86, you can scream from all the rooftops, but the majority is never going to see things your way.
Sorry all for my long post.
