NEW 4.7 Thread

After receiving my 4.7 starter a few days ago, I wanted to comment on the handle.
My preference would be the old style 4.1. The palm swell on the 4.7 is huge for my med/lrg hands. I'd like to rework the center a bit. Everyone is different I guess.

My 3V 4.7 order was during the late December 2015 pre-sale. Has anybody get one from that ordering timeframe yet? I think my order number is 7481.

I ordered mine mid-December. I had hoped to receive it a couple months ago but after monitoring this forum gave up on getting it any time soon.

Sorry to hear it's not more to your liking. I have small hands and thought through handle was fine. But like you said, everyone is different.

Do you think you'd like the handle of the new 4.1 or 4.5 better?

I'm guessing those presales may be awhile yet. I can't imagine all the preorders are out, I think they may still be working through April 2015 orders.

July 5 Monday seconds order for my 4.7 is finally shipping. This is the longest wait I have ever had for one of the Monday sales. Maybe this means my 4.7 cru forge will be shipping soon. I am very excited. After my 4.7s ship then my 2.7s and then years from now I will one day receive a GSO 12 in the mail and I will be complete. I am happy and sad all at the same time.

Yes! Thats when I ordered mine so its gotta be soon now. Order #9512...

I'm right behind you lionsden, 9513 waiting for a 2.7 and 4.7. I emailed them last week and they replied that a good deal of hand finishing is going on right now slowing down output. After working with my new-spec 5.1 in 20CV, I can't wait for the 20CV 4.7.

We are in the same boat. I also ordered in Dec 2015 but I am a bit behind you with an order number of 75xx.

I have #6101 and I am still waiting. It's worth the wait.

Besides, who among us doesn't have 3 or 4 (or 10) serviceable knives that will get us through in the meantime.

As an aside, I have never lied to my wife about how many knives I have. However, she has never seen them all laid out together at the same time. ;-)

I'd be afraid to do that... I wrote up a list of them all at one point, but stopped part way through and burned it as I realized that it will do none of us any good to keep such a list around

Its official! It shipped and I cant wait to get it....now just got to get back from deployment and put it to use! Thanks SURVIVE!

It (a list) does have value to you and family if you have your knives insured. In case of theft, fire, flood, or other loss, you would be glad to have a list.

Our insurance requires that, and we keep a list of site also.

For some jewelry, guns, and other "collections" it is sometimes advisable to keep accurate records... If a complete loss is not a problem if it would happen, then of course it's no issue...

I've started putting my list 'o goodies together. Makes me think I have too much invested if I need a separate insurance on the knives and guns but I would be a sad panda if something happened to them.

I don't want to hijack/derail this conversation but thought I would add a few comments because we're in the process of changing insurance companies. Along with the list I would take pictures and if possible add the serial number or some kind of identifier for the item. This helps with replacement value and is invaluable in case of theft. I do this for all of my guns and guitars. Also check your homeowners policy to see what's covered, how much it's covered for and the delectable. It can be surprising when you read the fine print about replacement - replacement value and the caps on individual and overall replacement cost.
