Not a recall. They just want to see how their product has faired. Just me thinking out loud....they are watching us! Kinda Off The Wall that the stop pins "could" break.

Let's be real.

Re-release ;

CRKT

-S2 frame lock
-Apache
-Prowler
-Falcon
-Kasper
-M-16/21

All in quality build and materials. They have some of the best designs on the market...CRKT does NOT need new designs and locks. They just need to upgrade the time tested designs they already have...

Agreed. Although I am not familiar with the S2 or Falcon. The Apache is very good and the M16 series is well thought out and proven. Unfortunately, CRKT keeps re-inventing the 16 series with poorer materials and workmanship. I've seen at least four different major versions over the years. The Kasper I just don't care for but, it is a fine design, IMHO.

I own two Prowlers and have lost count of how many M16-02s I've owned over the years. I still have one somewhere. Not impressed with the steel or heat treatment.

This sounds good on paper but they can't get what they do now right. Even on the budget level, Kershaw has them beat on quality all day long. They need to be competitive with what they already do before doing anything else.
I must say your opinion has merit but I'm afraid that even if they did get it right, the damage is already done. They won't be taken seriously.
If they prove themselves with another brand, maybe they can gain a reputation as a decent knife company.

That article is a riot.
"The biggest folding knife we've ever seen"
Have they not seen the Cold Steel rajah II.
or the Espada XL because those are basically double that knife.

Ohh man but if they used 3V in the
Rajah II...... ughh yes I'd buy 2 no shame.

Back on topic.
Bold move on CRKT. But jumping from 100 bucks to 750 for a production knife is a big jump. Personally not a fan of that knife but I'm sure people will still buy it. Just not many.

I betcha 200 people buy it.

It's probably manufactured by lionsteel, as their other high end knives have been.

It's been a long time, IMO, since CRKT has been worthy of consideration. I had a Mirage (Grey Ghost) that was decent, and I liked the S2. They have produced a couple of knives in the subsequent years that caught my eye...but I couldn't bring myself to pay the money, given my thoughts about the brand.
This knife has some appeal...but I wouldn't pay half the price given the CRKT label.

Can't blame CRKT, really. They see the things knife guys are willing to pay a premium for; massive size and weight, flippers, ball bearings, fiddly lock systems and unobtanium steel and want some of that action for themselves. Just don't reverse the name. It might be TMI.

The problem with that theory is they are making only 200 of them and they seem to be giving a good many away for review. Hard to profit when so few of your sought after product is made.

This smells more to me like marketing in yet another attempt to raise the brand prestige. Unfortunately for them, crkt has never realized that just making a good product at their current price range would be the best thing they can do for themselves.

Modern marketing. Capitalism at it's best! Give a bunch away for the positive reviews they'll bring (hard to diss a free $750 knife) then "recall" them.

They've been recalled for, allegedly, the thumbstud/bladestops are breaking...

Hard use lol that guy Cutlerly lover opened a box with it.
Give one to advanced knife bro let him abuse it. I’m tired of these reviewers that don’t actually use these hard use knives.

It's a recall. You don't say that your supposedly high end product could have a big flaw simply to see how the knives you sent out look after a review (especially when those knives are given under the pretense of not having to return them after the review). That would be an absolutely inane business practice given the fact that it reflects awfully on the company. Especially on a knife in competitive range with high end knives coming from companies like Olamic, Thorburn, Shirogorov. Don't try to box with the best if you aren't even going to be able to go one round.

The Hi-Jinx was a high quality knife... But barely worth the $400.00 price tag... My knife is flawless in fit and finish... And is very comfortable in my hand (large) - but I wouldn't pay $400.00 for it today... (too close to the price of a mini-goblin)

They have that lock on another model, the seismic, but its 119.00,thats a lot of money, considering it has a cheap 4116 steel,g10 handles and steel liners. its design isn't my style, either. the lock seems cool, but the 2 choices of knives that have these locks are either way overpriced or have inferior blade steels and materials...

Give one to me. I bet I can diss it. :D

No offense but If it didn’t have xhp steel it would be a $50 knife imo. all the crkt folders I’ve purchased fit into that Category
Decent knives but no better than the USA Kershaw knives even close to that price point.
