Got bored, and have been wanting to make an awl/reamer type of device for drilling smallish holes and poking, but wanted it to have some slight edge to it so I could use it for my firesteel. I got an idea today, well, a little bit ago, and ran with it. Here is the results. (In you face Nick.)

Handle end of a broken chainsaw file, with the tip ground at an angle to produce a sharp tip, and the handle of a spring loaded center punch with all the guts removed. The hole at the end of the punch was filed briefly to make it square shape, just small enough so that the file portion would not pass through all the way. It works, so I guess I am successful.

Very nice D!

First physical therapy session today. Now I get to play with big rubber bands. Headed to the lake for a long weekend of boozing, eating, boozing, sleeping, Beckers, boozing, various water/lake activities and boating schtuff, boozing...

Hope everyone has a great weekend!

You know that rancid smell and foul, necrotic taste in your mouth when you wake up in the morning, well that's my snarkiness. You're welcome.

Those big rubber bands make the best slingshots in the world. Try to snatch one or two.

Flexxx, that was a nice fish trap you made. I never got the chance to get to the lake to test my stuff.

Thanks for the sheath Snakedoc! This thing is sweet. Top notch work my friend. That couldn't fit any better. This is going to go PERFECT with the mod I'm going to do.

I've had "Citrustrip" on my hawk head for 2 and a half hours, and it hasn't done too much thus far. I can tell it's getting softer, but no where near ready. I also did some painting with Krylon. It's supposed to dry to the touch in 7 minutes. I painted over an hour ago, and it's still as wet as can be. I have it hanging inside too, not outside in the heat and humidity.

EDIT: I read somewhere the citrustrip takes in the 15-20 hour range.

Any of you flockers been thinking about the Harbor Freight 1x30 belt sander?
I just got a 25% off coupon I'd be happy to forward you via email.
It's one-day-only on the 4th though.

I just got one. Not the greatest thing in the world, but if you get it on sale and with a coupon it's worth it. Just make sure you get that warranty with the dern thing. You know how their tools can be. :)

I was going to get one last year, but I really have no where to put it. So, I decided I am going to save and possibly get a smaller device.

The handle I painted with Krylon just isn't drying. It's been in the house drying for 27 hours now, and is still tacky. I have used Krylon Fusion paint several times over the years, and have never had this problem. Apparently I got a bad can of it. It usually dries to where you can handle it in an hour.

Ugh, sounds nasty. I painted a piece of aluminum tubing for my walking stick a few weeks ago, and it stayed slightly sticky for about 2 weeks. Yuck.

Me and a buddy from work welded a chin-up bar underneath a set of stairs. We painted it to be inconspicuous and in hopes that it appeared to have always been there. We even planned it on the weekend shift to allow ample time to dry. It never dried. After 3 monthes I thought it was dry as the edges were no longer tacky. So I hopped up and did a few pull-ups ups only to find my hands unable to release. It was somewhat painful jerking them loose. It proved very difficult to remove the blue paint from my hands. I guess some paint never dries....
