I used my Phat Bob quite a bit this weekend. I love the damn thing... when it's open. Kind of hate it when it's closed, though. Hard to open, has some mystifyingly razor-sharp claws where a "guard" would be, and that durned space for relocating the clip...

Anybody ever use Hoppes Elite Gun Oil? K-fart had some clearanced for 90 cents a bottle, so I picked up the last bottle to try.
Over the 32K hump. Only a few hundred more, and I graduate from Bladeforums.

I've got some too. Haven't used it yet. You're just getting broken in good at 32K...or maybe that's a Honda Accord...

Just gun blued my hawk head. I put 6 coats on it. Looking good. I have it soaking in oil now. Supposed to let it cure in oil for 24 hours.

Hoppe's is great stuff, never really used it on my knives though. My Dad started me using it when I was around 8. Other than CLP that was issued to me in the Corps, I've used exclusively Hoppe's.

I used Birchwood Casey Perma Blue. Tradewater told me about it. Worked quite well.

Key to cold bluing is prepping the metal.
That Brownell's blue is good stuff too.
Oxpho-Blue, I think it's called.

I stripped it with Citrustrip, washed it up, then cleaned it with denatured alcohol, per the instructions, then blued it.

That's really cool, slapper. I'm out because I don't use SAKs much but that'll be a nice prize for someone.

Loves me some mango patina. It has a nice iridescent quality with multiple colors in certain light.

went camping last weekend. had a BK13 that i gave to my camping friend; also had a JAB Potbelly that i've been meaning to chop with for some time; and a Helle Temagami which is a lovely thing to behold - cuts well too.

sleeping was tent for my friend and hennessey hammock for me. perfect weather, except when we were leaving - skies opened up for a bit just to motivate the last hour of packing up :) nice.

had a portable propane grill for cooking steaks and tikka masala lamb with (no open fires allowed), and a jetboil for espresso :> made fresh bread, and had quite a lot of wine in boxes - good stuff.

the rest... well, hard to describe. burning man in the woods. art projects. lights. LOTS of lights. FIRE jets! there would have been tesla coils, but that fizzled somewhat. music. everywhere music. bacon. there was a bacon/pizza camp. with stripper poles. oh yeah. duck bacon! omg! giant inside-out s'mores - brilliant! velociraptors. inflatable! in the ferns. what a hoot. a geodesic steam dome. aerial silks. and so much more.

spent the entire day yesterday lounging and decompressing. oiy.

good trip. knives got used a lot :>

Did us some Grillin' for the Holiday

Throw in a couple cold ones and just gotta' have your BK 2 by your side :D

I just ate a bit ago, and now I'm hungry again. That looks REALLY good Cobra.

Thanks.

Not to pat myself on the back, but ... Gotta' tell ya ... one of the best steaks I've ever had. Friggin' seasoned it all day, cooked perfect, cold Rolling Rock ... YA BABY !!!!

Wanted to incorporate one of those cool tritium keyfobs into my BK2 lanyard. Found out they are illegal in Germany, "because of the radiation". Bunch of friggin bureaucrazys.

Glad he is okay but his reaction is priceless......:D
