I don't think there was any intent to alienate. The whole Barlow thing was funny in part because of the alleged shroud of secrecy surround a "city" of redneck warriors.
I can guarantee you that, had you PM'd any one person making a Barlow reference and asked for a serious explanation, they would have told you what they knew.
I range around different subforums here. I see things I don't understand all the time. I don't feel alienated. I might do a search or ask someone personally if I just have to know what something means.
IMO subcultures are defined by their own language, inside information, attitudes, etc. The Becker forum/subculture is no different. A lot of folks here at BFC have no idea what "BK-3" or "EsKabar" mean.

Remember when you first stumbled onto BF? If anyone is like me it took a year of lurking before I felt comfortable enough with the lingo and my knowledge of sharp stuff to even post a question. Some of the language might as well be hyroglyphics . This whole place is a different world. I can't speak for anyone else but myself but I didn't really know anything about the whole warrior city thing. I thought it was about paracord bracelets to be completely honest lol. But, I didn't feel excluded, if anything at all I felt late to the party which isn't a big deal to me. Ill just pay attention and get the joke next time

I agree with you there, as well, El Biscuitero. Busse is a perfect example, I don't know what half the BWQSADUELKNCOIUNE knife acronyms are, but I don't really want to know either. But if I did want to be apart of that subculture, then I would take the time to learn.

I just don't want folks feeling like they have to ask permission or are afraid to post here, becaue of the cliche mindset that Beckerheads are above all who post here, that's not the case. Quite the opposite in fact. Most Beckerheads I know, are very open, and welcoming when we see a new person, or someone with a challenge. That's why the BH's are here, community.

I don't either, there are a great group of guys here.

I didn't feel alienated, but the topic was brought up and I wanted to put in my .02.

I posted about what I thought about it, and not about how I feel(that would be ghey) about it.

Man, I can't imagine this community being less exclusive. Other than the Internet's tiniest dogpile in the KA-BAR Tanto thread and me jokingly (?) threatening to punch people who have prototype Machaxes in the babymaker, I can't think of an example of this not being a welcoming place.

Sure new people might be confused by the Barlow thing or whatever, but isn't there a certain "tough shit" aspect to all this? Basically, just jump in and we'll all make sure you swim?

I dunno, I think people are going to be way more confused by Bladite's posts than anything else that goes on here :)

One thing I like about this place is people have a little bit tougher hides than the cake decorating forum. I didn't know shit from applesauce when I came in here but jumped right in. Got called dumbass and even threatened to be kicked in the nuts by moose the first day I was here. I thought "hmmm...I'm home". Come on people, suck it up. Some guys are ragging me about my home town. That's it. Now let's put a stop to all this frivolity and somebody convince me to buy a BK2.
