New GEC #13 Congress series (Clerk, Speaker Jack and Whip)

I was hoping to see a Whittler with a pen and coping secondary...But not two pen blades. However I am a fan overall of this pattern.

I am curious how the Northfield bolsters will be finished. I hope they are not pinched. While I like them pinched in general, I don't think it works well with the Congress pattern. I would love to see the rat tail make an appearance again, still love my forum congress and looking forward to a slimmer version with a nice pointy wharncliffe blade :D

Ya I thought two pen blades was an odd configuration also. A coping and a pen would make more sense.

I passed on all of them. I've not been getting fired up by GEC lately...

Im confused; which is my usual state! I've looked at the #13 drawing on the GEC site and checked the numbers. I don't see two pen blades? What am I missing?

There isn't a drawing of it anywhere, but it is up for preorder and it's on GEC's production schedule.

I believe they added a whittler pattern after the drawing was made (i.e., there's a fourth version).

I see that now. It says sheep foot and 2 pen blades? But, aren't the speaker and clerk 2 blade? Man is that confusing!!!!

If I had more patience to carefully compare the information I would not have wasted your time. :p It looks like demand for a whittler got through?

I actually want just two blades and in the case of the Whip a single Wharncliffe. Just trying to understand what is moving pretty quickly now.

Thanks huelsdonk another members shot me a PM earlier and explained it to me as well. Sadly I can't take part in Mike's Early Reserves were I live in Canada but im happy I manged to score a #13 whittler in jagged bone & a #13 Whip in Stag . All the same :D

Might not mention the dealer as it will be in violation of Fish & Wildlife Regulations once they ship the stag to you. Many customers outside the U.S. use a friend or a re-shipper when buying from those that will not ship themselves. But any dealer that ships a stag knife to you without the $90+ inspection fee and published declarations risk having every past shipment considered in violation as well. Fees and fines come to about $450 per shipment; for every shipment Fish & Wildlife decides could have contained declarable items. I don't expect your address would be that hard to acquire for anyone wanting to peruse such forums and put a track on. Then again I am somewhat paranoid about such issues these days....

With the Whittler, it might have been possible to add a small Clip instead of the two Pen blades. But, that would add to production costs and maybe GEC is out of Coping blades at the moment? Or maybe the force behind the SFO wanted 2 Pen blades?

As for the external shipping of Stag...I see the potential quagmire:eek: but then there's Stagbone and Bonestag, terms which could conveniently cover a multitude of ambiguities...;) Perhaps yet another reason why we should not discuss the where and how of getting knives but more, the what of knives?

Not sure I will be getting one of these but really looking forward to see how they turn out..I do have a thing for ebony...

Sometimes it's hard to tell the size of things in pictures without perspective, but judging from the size of the nail nick this looks like a coping secondary?

What do you think?

I thought but just wrote it off to a deceptive picture. The more I look at it the more it looks to be a coping blade.

I thought it would be doubtful that there would be 2 pen blades. It made sense that changes would be made. There is even information out there (not being specific because I don't want to get into the possible buying/reserving conversation and violate rules) that says the info is very preliminary and is subject to change.

I hope the 13 whittler gets a coping. I was not exited about the two pen blades but figured I would give it a try.

While they are at it please make a 38 whittler!

100% in agreement. I'd much rather a coping blade rather then a second pen (Im sure most would) and givin the popularity of the Grinling whittler I can't really see GEC making a version of the #38 without a whittler run. But that's just my opinion and we all know how common opinions are ;)

Two pens, perhaps, one might just be "cut-off". A cut off pen or "COPE". Makes more sense to me as well.

Yeah I was wondering if maybe the use of the word pen just ment 2 smaller blades then the Main in this case?? Does that happen or am I just being hopeful lol:D
