New GEC #13 Congress series (Clerk, Speaker Jack and Whip)

I was a bit confused about the clerk cover options, "office knife" etch, and which congress is getting the ivory micarta. I'm guessing someone else might be too... maybe it's just me lol.

The only clerk that will have the laser etch is the bone. The micarta will not have the etch - I assumed the micarta wouldn't have the etch, but wasn't 100% sure.

According to GEC pictures today (assuming the hand written note is accurate), the clerk is getting the ivory micarta covers with a hot dog shield.

Correct me if I'm wrong please...

Love the Whip! I have a NIB 2013 Forum knife that I played with a little bit but really did not get attached to. I really do like the Wharncliffe main blades.

GEC please make the whittler with the ivory micarta, coping blade , pen blade, all steel and squared off bar shield like on the lick creek farmer. Just sayin.....

Thanks

I wasn't a fan of micarta before last year's 77 Barlow. I really like the bone linen micarta on my Barlow so when I saw the pictures today I had to reserve one. It would be nice on the whittler, I was hoping for that too, but figured I better reserve the micarta clerk because GEC might not use the same micarta on all of them.

Yeah, I think I could live with that. ;)

Swap the pen with a small clip and it would be pretty much ideal for my tastes.

Everybody think the wood looks like Ebony?

rough cut tends to look lighter, but it does look somewhat pale for ebony. No matter to me, the more color variation the more character in my opinion. To be honest, i would love it if they left the sharp corners on the wood like that for a more square cut surface. :)

I completely missed there's gonna be a whittler as well. I'm not much interested in other versions of the 13, but a whittler, that sure speaks to me. I have this itch again and was already looking for another GEC to buy, now I see they're making this. Hopefully I can get one, that would be awesome.

Looks like a nice color. I'm hoping for a nice, dark color on the Speaker Jack, and I'd be ok if that were it. Of course, the preview drawing shows a red jigged bone on the Whip, so who knows. I would love to see a nice dark brown on the SJ like they have on the drawing.

Maybe I should call them so they can make my whittler all steel and with a coping.

Is that how it works?

Could one mod one of the pens to a file? It's probably too thin for that, or? Nice to see how they're coming along though.

Two pen blades seems like a waste of space to me. I assume there's an advantage of having two pen blades and I don't understand what it is... What am I missing?

Hey it's worth a shot!:D
And make that two!

Well, it's pretty common in older whittlers from what I've seen. But then again I definitely think the coping in addition to a pen would be superior.

Two pen blades is not unusual for old knives but it's not really typical either. I think a manicure file or coping blade would be very traditional. A coping blade would be preferable for me.

If the pen is mightier than the sword... then two pen blades must be super powerful.

It's good to see them doing more 3 blade patterns.

The Jigged Bone looks very good, the Stag is top, Smooth Bone suits it and that Ivory Micarta is just the job. So far, the choices look excellent! A light colour jigged would suit it nicely too.

I'm stalking that Clerk in one way or another......
