New Information Needed on the 2016 Forum Knife!

A. jigging good; bone color?
B. long pull-matchstrike if possible
C.(sigh) carbon is fine, certainly if it's your preference Charlie
D. THANK YOU CHARLIE, JUST THANK YOU.
E. as few polls as are reasonable
i know i've mentioned it several times but in the cad drawings it looked as though there was an option for pins or no pins; with bone i would guess the pins are a requirement? also the color, because i'm red/green colorblind really has some bearing for me. those two colors aren't great for me, but could be all-right in darker shades. or black, that's a nice color;). do you have thoughts yet as to the bolsters? i still would advocate for several rings-i've recently seen as many as five(5) look very nice but 2 or 3 would be great.
thanks, Neal

Worm Groove is really excellent. But how about the colour?? The original photo showed a light coloured model and I think this would be a nice departure from the dark brown bone on many knives.

Longpull on a Spear always looks at home.

A steel poll would be useful but why not restrict it to a short period say 72 hours? That's enough to gauge enthusiasm.

Carbon check
Long Pull check
Worm Grove not so much but not a deal breaker so long as jigging is deep and NOT regular
Thanks Charlie

Yes to worm-grove I think it's beautiful
Yes to long pull on a spear blade it just looks natural
yes to carbon steel of which I am old and a fan of

Thanks for taking this on Charlie.

Let's see how many mention wanting 440C, which is the only alternative to 1095 that we have available. If we get a bunch, I will gladly poll it.

I can't argue with worm groove, long pull or carbon steel. This is shaping up to be a beautiful knife, which is no surprise with Mr. Campagna at the helm. Thanks again Charlie!

I can't argue that there's been a lot more dark bone than light, but in my experience bone tends to lighten up as it's carried. If we start with a light bone to match the antique knives than by the time it's an antique it might look like the bone wasn't dyed at all.

I'd prefer something the tone of the recent #18 jigged brown bone pictures that have been floating around. Not necessarily that color, but something that dark. I think it would look good with worm groove. This isn't a major hangup for me, though.

Every thread needs pictures, so I stole some from the Internet of S&Ms with worm groove covers.

Thank you, Charlie! You are a prince amongst traditional knife lovers!

Carbon, long pull and worm bone.

^ That is gorgeous! I wouldn't mind something different, regarding color. I like burgundy and purple (don't own either color on a knife), and blue or green might be nice. Those colors might put off most people, but there are ample opportunities to pick up an earth-tone knife.

As to Charlie's questions:

1) Yes
2) Yes
3) Whatever (I would prefer stainless but will make do with 1095).

Why all the excitement about a bar shield? I'd prefer something more interesting like a centered gimp shield (or acorn if it's stainless). I'm in no matter what, though. Just thinking out loud really.

OK, controversial as I ever I'd like to see 440c:thumbup::thumbup: After all, we have not YET had a GEC made Forum Knife in stainless:cool::D

Thanks, Will

440c would be lovely, but i don't think it'll happen. anyway i'll say 440c over carbon contrary to what i put above, but it just ain't gonna happen. bar shield yes, no purple please-it looks blue to me, which is nice but i'd like to see the true color of the scales-:Doiled bone anyone? nary a hj have i seen in simple white or off white. how about yellow, always refreshing. if it was white on the surface and dark in the worm-groove it would really pop!
thanks, Neal
